eBay Disappointment

It's called GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) it sucks and the only way to kill is is to acquire the item in question. At least the dam thing is cheap

Nice looking, but in my opinion the design promotes chalking in a manner that wears out the center and neglects the otherwise useful portions
of the cube. Not to mention possibly turning most of your ferrule blue or whatever color your chalk may be.

One thing I collect is products from Tweeten.

I guess the thing I like about this is, Tweeten-branded products have been in my world since I was a little kid back in the early 70s and began playing. It's the 'old familiar' association with times with my Dad I really miss from when I was 10. Also, Tweeten doesn't 'update' it's packaging and logo to 'be modern and in-step with modern times'.

For example, the Tweeten cue-tip 'repair tip' box which you can buy today, looks like the packaging design hasn't changed since the late 50s.

And, I really appreciate that.

So, I have a little 'Tweeten Shrine' and 'product-box-display' on one the shelves in my Den/Office - even things by Tweeten I don't use/never used; like Royal Oak and Blue Knight cue tip boxes, or the aforementioned Cue Tip Repair Kit are featured.

In my collection are a few of the yellow plastic Triangle-branded chalk holders; but, I never acquired one of the red Master Chalk printed ones.

Master Chalk has been with me since Day One; and, is my chalk of choice to boot.

So, I find a Seller on eBay who is selling the Red Master Chalk plastic chalk holders - delivered for less than $10 - and, I think 'Great!!! another small 'Victory' in acquisition to expand the Tweeten Shrine in my office.

I click 'Buy-it-Now', and pay via Paypal; and the order is confirmed.

So far, so good!

BUT THEN... ::: Cue Dramatic Music here ::: I get one of those dreaded and disappointing notices from eBay; informing me that my order has been cancelled as the Seller reports the item is 'Not Available'.

UGH!

Now, because of my OCD-driven need to complete collections AND 'win' in matters of finding and acquiring things on my list, what began as a simple: "Oh, cool, let's get that!", will now blossom into an obsessive and relentless HUNT - as it ALWAYS DOES with me - until the elusive target-prey is "in the bag".

Anyone have one of these to sell, so I don't have to go on a relentless expedition to put one of these on my shelf?

I like your enthusiasm for the Tweeten legacy. Two years or so ago I communicated with the President of Tweeten regarding my Tweeten Tenoning Machine blade, and he said, Merry Christmas, and sent me one free of charge along with Tweeten and Master patches! Much appreciated! I use 12 hard rock maple cues. Likewise, I , as a home table only player, have 3 Willard Tipper Trimmer Machines! I believe it is a piece of United States pool history, and must be preserved. I understand your passion.

If you buy the box of 24, recover some of your money by offering for sale
on Az some of the 24 that comes in the carton. It lowers your overall cost.

This is absolutely correct; but, as I said in my OP, many of the Tweeten Treasures on my display-shelf-shrine are items which have been mainstays in my like since the early 70s - like Master Chalk, Elk Master tips - but also, many items are included which I no longer use, or in some cases never used; BUT, NONETHELESS, the old familiar, wonderfully-unchanging Tweeten logo and product-packaging design remains the same, and goes on and on - uninfluenced by the calendar on the wall.

So these Mater Chalk Holders are not intended for use - but display only - and, for exactly the reasons you cite.

The only 2 consistent things in my 'Billiard Life' have been The Brunswick Billiard Corporation (although the Brunswick of today is not the Brunswick of yesterday) and, The Tweeten Fibre Company - an unchanging company who epitomizes consistency, reliability, and dependability, in a crazy changing "modern" world, which has been by my side while playing pool for nearly 50 years. - GJ

Thanks for the good suggestion; but, SHELDON has already hooked me up. Thanks to our good Brother Sheldon, the Collector-Crisis will be resolved and the Master Chalk Holders are already on their way to come live on my Tweeten Product Shrine in my den. - GJ
