Ebay seller renigs??

I just won an Ebay auction on a judd cue. This same seller was also selling a Viattore.
After the auction I sent an e mail about payment and he responded by sayng I would need to pay him an additional $124 for the cue plus $15 for shipping. He says he cannot sell the Judd for the winning bid. It was not listed with any reserve. I sent the info to ebay and it went to their square trade site. Any suggestions??
I also am now requesting the sale be done through ebay's escrow service, I wonder if he pulled the same on the other cue that was won by fredylit???

If it was not listed with reserve he is obligated to sell at the highest bid. See what ebay says. If he still refuses request that ebay terminate his account. No guarantee that they will. Leave neg feedback simply stating "Refused to sell to high bidder on no reserve item"

I have ben selling on ebay for a long time and have lost money when an item didn't make what I thought it would. As an ethical seller I ate my losses.

I'm a power seller on ebay and I loose money from time to time on transactions like this one, but I've never done or even heard about such an adjustement. Just report it to ebay and go from there, you've got upper hand here. Do not rush to post a negative feedback, because he will do the same thing to you!

Be happy the seller did not take your money, and not send you the cue. As you are out no money.

Did you notice that the same cues are up for auction all the time? I guess this happens a lot. I might email him and tell him about the "reserve" lol... or maybe he doesn't want to pay the reserve fee...
Or his way of beating ebay out of some of the "final value" fees...

I just bought a cheap cue hustler cue on Ebay around the 1st of this month (payed through PayPal). The was sent a day later (says the seller) via USPS priority mail (I have a tracking number). (Should take 2-3 days max.). It's two weeks later, and I have yet to see the cue. I went to the Post office, and they only track delivery, or attempted delivery.

So I says to myself, did the seller really ship the cue?

A few sellers think that once they drop the item off at the local post office their responsibility is over.
Bull Pucky ... they are the ones that insure it and they are responsible for it until it is in your hands.
Always pay the extra for a delivery notification when you use USPS.

Hope you get your cue and everything turns out OK.
Most sellers on eBay are good people and will do the right thing if there are problems.

Post Office also tracks items given to Live Clerks, and SCANNED into the system.

I have shipped many things through the U.S. Postal Service. Priority Mail take 2-3 day, but IS NOT GUARANTEED.

I recently wanted to ship an item of Value in excess of $1,000.00, and was advised by the clerk to go REGISTERED INSURED MAIL. It was cheaper than Priority Mail Insured, plus the recipient had to sign for it.

I don't want to give Ebay or this seller a bad name. I have purchased things from Ebay before, with no problem.

Time will tell on my recently purchased item. And the item I did purchase was advertised as being shipped via a paypal/ebay location. So I had no choice but to pay a higher shipping fee and insurance. However, the post office did tell me that the shipping label and tracking number was printed from the internet, so I really don't know if it was dropped in a mailbox. The seller seems legit, and wants me to wait 30 days before pursuing any kind of claim, to see if the package arrives. Sounds reasonable to me.

The cheap hustler I bought cost as much as the shipping and insurance. So, it's not like I would be out any large sum of money.

If you do your homework, and follow the proper procedures, you are relatively well protected. E-Bay is invaluable for collectibles, but I think it is for the well informed buyer. Common sense prevails. Crooks are clever, flakes are not.

Here are the steps I would recommend for buyers:

1) Check the location of the seller. If they are not in the USA, don't buy from them.

2) Check the feedback of the seller - if they have less than 20 transactions or are newer than three months, don't buy from them.

3) Use extreme caution when communicating with a seller. To ensure that the communication is legit it must originate from E-Bay's mail system.

4) Pay only through Paypal. If the transaction is over $500, pay only on a credit card through Paypal. If you don't receive the item in a reasonable time, in reasonable condition, you can reverse the credit card purchase.

5) Do not buy or sell out of the E-Bay system - there's no reason to and you are totally exposed to fraud.

I have had many good transactions on E-Bay, made some great buys for fun and profit, and sold some stuff at bargain prices too.

There have been a few cases of dealing with flaky sellers. I had a couple of sellers Paypal accounts frozen when the item was not received and they wouldnt answer the e-mails. You should see how quickly they respond when Paypal freezes their account and drafts thier bank balance for the reversal! It's hilarious, really, begging and pleading to have you drop the complaint...
