Ebay - Should I leave a bad Feedback?

I sold an old vintage book on ebay. High bid was $127. I waited a few days without hearing from the guy and sent an email asking if he still wanted it.

He answers and says, "Sorry, I don't want it now".

Should I leave a bad feedback and take the chance that he will retaliate or just let it go?

This kind of crap really pisses me off about ebay. The guy just doesn't pay and I am the one who has to pay for the listing, maybe a second listing also........and this guy will still be able to leave me negative feedback as payback if I want to let everyone know the guy is a dirtbag.............

Leave negative feedback. It's your responsibility. I don't want to end up dealing with the same dirtbag down the road.

I wouldn't worry about him leaving negative feedback. When I see negative feedback, I try to look at both sides. Usually it's clear who's the jerk.

I would not chance leaving him bad feedback, since he very well might leave you negative in return. I once bought a cue off of ebay that was advertised as a custom by a name cuemaker, but turned out to be an asian import. It was broken at the wrap area. It was a total scam and I gave him bad feedback and got a retalitory negative feedback from him. Not only did I lose money on the deal, but the one negative on my feedback profile did not help.

Be glad he did not back out of a real high dollar deal. As it is, I'm sure you are only stuck a few $'s for the ebay fees. It could be worse.

Regards,

Doug

You can also file an unpaid item process.

As far as I'm aware, any winning bid is a "contract" in the eyes of eBay and they'll usually back the seller of the item unless there is something clearly in favor of the buyer.

Since you have email from the guy stating he "changed his mind", that's not going to cut it.

Best case scenario, you get a final value fee credit and re-list your item, hopefully selling it to a non-dirtbag this time.

Doug

you can reply to a -feedback. if you don't use it for fear of getting a neg yourself then you defeat the whole point. he leaves you one, reply with the explanation.

if you use feedbacks to narrow your choices when deciding on a purchase, then consider it your DUTY to make others aware of the loafer.

Well .......breaking news.........

I sent ebay a message about the guy refusing to pay about a half hour ago.

And JUST now, I received an instant payment from the guy in question.

Ebay HAD to have got ahold of this guy because the last I heard from him he wasn't going to pay.

So if indeed that is the case, I have to say "cudos" to ebay.........for once. :)

Jeff, report him to eBay as an unpaid bidder. By doing this eBay will refund your sellers fee's. They will also give him a bunch shit until he either pays or is listed by them on their non-paying bidder listing.

Most sellers do not take the time to do this, and many buyers do not read ebays requirements, it is very simple three strikes and thier out.

The negative feedback is also an option, however, I think it should be reserved for more serious issues. Now you can also use neutral feedback and plainly state why you did so, to alert other sellers.

Have a great Day!!!!

If you worded it this way "Do you still want it?", you offered him a choice.

I wouldn't say "Do you still want it?". I'd send an invoice, and if still no response, a simple message like "Still awaiting payment for the item you won in the auction".

Anyway, glad he paid you :)

You know I actually thought afterwards about using the words "do you still want it"......even though I used other words in conjunction, I wondered after I sent the message if I had just given the guy an "out"...

But yes I'm glad I got the money.....now I'm a little worried about the guy asking for a refund after he receives it as a way around the whole thing.
