I didn't know you could use Mountain Dew as sealer. :thumbup:
I love African Olivewoods.
Expensive but beautiful dense woods.
I'm making one with olive front and brazilian rosewood handle.
 
Maybe a stupid question, but what is the benefit of a carbon fiber pin?:help:

Where are the pics of that one? Hey that piece you rescued out of the trash bin and stuck a pin in for me plays SUPER.

The cue is owned. It's gonna hit unreal. Real nice ping .
Olivewood mixed in with some dark hardwoods hit unreal imo.

Carbon Fiber Pin

Very nice Jeff Olney cue

The cues I've had with carbon fiber pins have been very good players.

Good work, it should be a phenomenal cue

If its linnen; I`d do white/black specs
If its leather; I`d do black textured wrap of some sort.
Its a tuff call either way.

Now that I see the cue in process. I`m with bnall.
Black teju lizard wrap. Thats one good looking cue there Tony.

Thank you Jeff :) Not sure what Black teju lizard wrap looks like but I'll look it up. Or if anyone has a pic or 2 please feel free to post.

Jeff says this is one of a kind for sure, does not like working with olivewood and besides being sort of expensive seems like the grainy type with the nice swirls like the one used on this cue is hard to get.

Lots of wraps might look good - linen, lizard, leather, cork, stacked... Most folks know what feels right on their playing cue, so you need to go with that. I prefer linen on my player, but I like embossed (faux) Teju lizard on my JB. I've had stacked leather, by the way. They look great to begin with, but they will dull over time & are almost as expensive to have refurbished as to have replaced.
If you've spent much time talking to Jeff, I know he's probably broached the subject of damage to the finish by "after market" people installing leathers, etc... Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of people that do an excellent job - but Jeff has had cues leave his shop perfect & come back in no time with wrap path edge finish damage. He's even had people expect the re-finish (a lot of work) for free!
Jeff's finish is as good as there is... Choose carefully.
 
I guess nobody noticed the tight straight-grained quality handle Mr. Olney has on this cue.
That part has a lot to do with the cue's hit imo.
