I have a customer interested in a full length butt of ebony, segmented handle. I have not tried to core one of full ebony and wanted to inquire on what might be the average weight that could be expected coring with straight grain maple? Is it possible to keep weight below 20 oz?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

what do you mean by full length butt?i gathered 29" piece of Ebony,but then you said segmented handle.it shoudn't be a problem getting it under 20oz.
 
I just made a cue with a full ebony and bem wrapless cue. The forearm was bem with ebony v-groove points and rest of the cue was solid ebony and had no problem with getting it under 20oz. In fact I had to add a little weight to get it where my customer wanted it..
 
Thanks gentlemen, yes it is only segmented because of the ring work thru butt and handle area, wrapless. I did not think it would be a problem but wanted some confirmation on my thoughts. Thanks again , as always you guys are great to respond with helpful information.
