Ebony finish question

Hi,

On oily woods, apply liberal amounts of acetone to pull the oil from the outer area of the substrate.

When the paper towel stops showing bleed, let the cue come to room temp. Then apply your adhesion coat in mutipul layers before spin sanding this substrate flat. Then apply your finish after the substrate material is fully cured. Patience Grasshopper. Always best to to let it hang longer.

IMO, the cue shown here was not properly prepped and the substrate was sanded through in spot areas. Once the finish was installed it magnified the exposed grain on those areas.

This is why I am big proponent of 3 applications of adhesion coat so one has head room and does not sand through on spot areas when final sanding before finish.

JMO,

Rick
