Ebony sneaky petes

I've been looking for a 60" ebony sneaky pete and noticed they are pretty hard to find... let alone 60". Is it because the wood is too costly to 'recover' from the overall sale? Hard to work with?? I've thought about just buying the blank from Barringer but I wonder if cuemakers will even make a cue from someone else's blank.

Most cuemakers use blanks for sneaky petes. There are a few than don't though.
An ebony sneaky needs to have the ebony cored to get a decent balance, IMO.

I thought i would say that i agree with sheldon the butt on a ebony sneaky would have to be cored other wise it would be to butt heavy. you might think about this reverse the woods and put the ebony in the front and the birdeye are reg. maple in the rear with the maple points running up into the ebony forearm this would take care of the balance issue and make for a nice hitting and balanced cue not to mention it would look alot different then most sneaky petes you see.The 60 inch deal would not be a problem at all for most custom builders some charge a little extra for it and some don,t i will also say that ebony has went up in price lately so look to pay a little more. hope this helps. :) MADISON BOB CUSTOM CUES

Quality ebony in the size needed to do a fullsplice is getting harder to find. Prices are going up too. I don't build sneaky's anymore out of ebony because the good stuff is saved for my fullsplice with veneer cues.

Here's one you might like! It's made by Pechauer!
