ebony vs maple

I have played guitar for as long as I can remember and like pool cues, it has wood which change the sound, quality and whatnot.


what are the main differences in quality when you compare ebony to maple for the butt?

Ebony has a flatter, stiff hard feeling hit to it. Maple has a lively more flexible feel.

Maple gives ebony the 7 and still feels like he's stealing, but ebony looks good while he's losing.

Also, begs the question...when referring to the butt, are you referring to the backend wood used, or in the nose?

I tend to prefer maple in the nose, but others like ebony.

How about using ebony nose on a break cue? It will give nice balance, and stiffer hit. Or?....
