in which sentence did i say all the people claims are make up stories ? there time it took me few days to locate Ed or for him to return my calls. I never accused anyone here about their story. I was only letting them know I have spoken to Ed 2 weeks ago on the phone. hoping that would help to let people know Ed is not dead or disappear. last i spoke to him, Ed told me another one of his close friend is having cancer & probably would be passing away soon.

Maybe i worded my post wrong, it just seemed as though you where speaking to him recently and even recieved cues from him recently also so as for people to believe he is around and making cues thats all no accusations at all......
Ok everyone... I just spoke to Ed this morning around 10:20am. have let him know about the complain here on AZ & Ed told me he was out with DPK somewhere up north buying wood & there no signal for his phone. if anyone need to reach him, try calling him around 9am chicago time or the best way to reach him is text him with your phone number & he will call you right back. also, he did mention, he finishing up some order for some of you. I don't know who may that be. anyway, hope this will help.

No cuemaker worth their salt should charge a deposit for something they might (MIGHT) have $100-$200 in materials-wise.
Until customers quit rewarding certain cuemakers for their bad practices, I suspect stories like these will persist.

That is what he wrote me on 7 may 2006.
Estimated delivery time was 18 to 24 months once he received a deposit for order in my region.
We try to give priority to regions where we don not have cues yet.
We do not think we have cues in The Netherlands so we can move your order up in delivery.
I had a short mail contact in 2008, and after that never heared from him again!
I have send him like almost daily emails the last month to the following address: eycues@gmail.com and also to artisian01@gmail.com with no reply.
I don't want a cue anymore, just want my money back.

sorry to hear about that. sometime I wonder myself too if i'll get my cues. I figure i get it when i get it. I put cue orders with different maker & I never follow up with them, they just call me when the cue is ready or maybe once in a red moon i call them up to chat or to see how the progress. anyway, hope everything will work out for you with Ed, when i do talk to him again I will mention you to him too.

how do you expect them to eat and live during the 6-12 months it takes them to build the cue? if cue making is there full time job i would expect them to need more then material costs.
lets say i was a cue maker (will be soon!!!!) who had someone hire me to commission a cue for them, and lets say i quoted 1800 for this cue that will be built to the costumers (totally ugly) design and specs. well i would not want to have a $100-$200 deposit on a $1800 cue that the customer might not even want after 6-12 months.
many cue makers have taken deposits and delivered the cues! they have made good names for them selfs! hearing about deposits being kept is sad and gives cue makers everywhere a bad name, all we can do is know who they are and support the honest ones!

I'm talking about deposits being taken and wood never getting turned to build the orders. That does happen from time to time....and it's disgusting. I know because it's happened to me (but not with EY).
In my mind, the "totally ugly" cues, as you mention, are the exception imho when it comes to a deposit. But on the flipside to that, most reputable cuemakers I know won't do something that far out there anyway....if it's out of their norm (design) or they don't feel it's a good idea (specs or structurally). If you're a serious cuemaker, your name and reputation should be everything, so why would you want an eyesore out there in the marketplace representing your work. And more inline with this thread, why would you want customers out there mad at you for not building them their cues when you're holding their deposits ??

I didn't bold the above lines insinuating that any of the aforementioned accusations are not true, I bolded them because I MYSELF do not know them to be the entire truth...just as some of you might not believe what I'm typing right now, and that's fine. Most of you don't know who I am, so I'd expect the same treatment.
I am also aware of what consequences usually become from people like myself who will describe a person who has been flamed (as in this thread), in a different or more positive light, as I am about to do now. But when I read one of the above posts, something like "Someone should stick a shank in his ear", I felt like I had to post this...
What I do know about Ed is, he is one of the most generous people I have ever met. As was mentioned in a previous post, when one of our local legends here in the city was stricken with Cancer, Ed was steadfast in supporting him the entire time, from organizing fundraisers, to sitting bedside, and sadly, helping arrange funeral / burial arrangements (this was over a long period of time). There are many more examples of Ed's generosity, this is just one...
I'm not here to campaign Ed for Sainthood...none of us are perfect, but as a friend, and someone who believes and has seen the good he does do, I did feel the need to defend him a bit.
I will also bring these posts to Ed's attention, as I don't think he comes on here, and I will do what I can to help clear this up.
