I do not believe that a player picking up the chalk, swiping their tip, then setting the chalk back down a dozen or so times teaches a viewer anything. Most of us here have seen that in a forms of cue sport.
I don't think you understand what I am getting at. If the commentators are worth anything, during the moments that you describe, a player chalking, doing all those annoying things we hate, they will be describing the situation at hand and explaining the pros and cons of what the player is currently weighing up. Are you saying all pool players are not only fed up with seeing players chalk (I know I am), but also fed up and up to speed with knowing everything about the most complex game available to us?
