Editing the players out of a match

How much work would it take to edit the shooter out of a video; so, that it's like the balls are moving on their own?

I suppose there would be a lot of filling in gaps, but it would be interesting to watch.

It's 2014. People can do some wacky shit wif dem computers.

I am doing a report with a program called indesign and you are basically making a magazine. You can do some pretty amazing things very easily and i think Indesign is pretty basic too, as far as these programs go.

I can only imagine what 2015 holds in store for us. Sky's the limit.

Cleary does a bunch of editing work I'm sure he'd love to answer, but I would say it would require so much work to do after the video was already made that no-one would bother doing it.

The players are almost always blocking something on the table when playing so not only would you have to remove the person, you would have to draw in whatever them and they cue would be blocking. It may be pretty easy to mark a player with points in some editing software and have it track the motion and then delete those pixels, but filling in the table and balls with all the motions, I don't see a software doing that without some heavy duty AI.

I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.....but it would be so cool.

Call the video.....The Ghost Strikes Back

You are right that cleary would likely have the best input, but that wont keep me from abusing the little intelligence i have...on the matter.

If you have multiple images that you want to make the same change to, like showing the tables rails without a human, you can fix it once and then use a command like 'repeat change'. You dont have to get out the hammer and glue every time.

There are some very smart people building crazy things out there...but they cant play pool too well, i bet.

The issue is that where the rails need to be drawn chances every time, and how much of the rail, and how much of the table, and the ball positions and the shadows on those balls behind the player that were never shown but have to be simulated. The program would have to know that if a 2 ball is in the corner, and a player steps in front of it, that 2 ball is still in the corner when the player moves. And if the player makes it while in the way then it won't be there, but how would the editing program know that? It can't play pool to know if the ball should still be there or not.

Hellifino!

But i think recent advance have made it far easier than it would have been 5yrs ago or so.
