Educate Me on the Runde Schon's- ??

I've decided I want to start collecting these and specialize somewhat on these particular cues. It seems like everyone is interested and respects the work from this team and era ??

What I need is some help and direction- Please tell me if there's people that might share, or books that I could read. I already know this will be no easy task and it will take time, but I'm committed to these sticks and I want to learn about and collect them- Obviously, I'm not the only one that can see the beauty and collectibility of this art form.

Short version: sharp points/very good, maple dashes/great, multi colored
veneers/awesome, yellowed micarta ferrules/desirable.
See one for sale/buy one. Lesson over.

Here is list of the R cues from the First Catalog.

This cue is all wrong, joint has been replaced and shaft is not original to the cue.

I noticed that too. Definitely there's something wrong with the joint. Well; no original shaft, repaired badly and for someone other than Schon. Nobody knows what the original problem was... :nono:

THe 1/2 inch the cue is short by is also a clue. Has the forarm been cracked, shortened, then, repaired? That Ebay cue is in bad condition and would cost the selling price to make right again with a shaft that matches.

I agree SC02GTP, With the cue on ebay, the listing states 58-1/2 inches long. I have received a cue like this once as the photo's I was sent were not nearly this good. The joint on the cue I received looked like this, the joint was re set deeper into the cue. I sent the cue to Mike Erwin and he added piece into the forearm and stretched it to a normal length cue. Turned out very well and I listed the cue with all the before and after photo's and the cue sold well and has performed well for the buyer. The cue I had was chopped about a inch and a half. This cue would make a great break cue with the right shaft on it. Just my opinion.

He still makes them. They are great Cues at any price.
Nick :)

Yes,Bob Runde is alive and well. You can get with him and order exactly what you want.If you want the vintage "cool factor" then buy an R series Schon that Bob made when he owned Schon. They usually play very well.Just my 2 cents.

Welcome

Ignore the person who said to move your post. You are welcome here and it sounds like you already generated a sale for someone.

Stick around and learn the ropes.
