Efren definitely not yet paid

Something is screwy here. Did he get the check? Or not? If he did, why would Efren tell someone he had not been paid yet? Well, I look forward to my visit there in November. I guess we'll know then whether Efren got any money or not.

What I understood, the check has arrived, but as it takes some time to be cleared, the CASH is not in Efrens pocket yet..

So if I got it correct, and the check is legal, this is a good news indeed..

LOL! This is a very good example of reading comprehension DEFICIENCY!
Getting Paid means transfer of assets or legal tender, CASH. Getting paid doesn't mean recieving a check because a check is just a document ordering payment of specified amount on a specified date.

Nobody stated that it, for lack of factual evidence, was encashed. This check reciept story came about from Rolando's saying to Linds , in my presence, "You'll be surprised if I suddenly buy every cue in your shop when the check clears". To this Linds asked "When did you recieve the Reno check?" And the answer was "YESTERDAY". So that's the situation when and where the info originated from.

Now you folks be the judge, Ted may have gotten the fact about the "CASH" but his reading comprehension flew out the window with what he stated that we "people in Manila" said in the other thread. The nerve twisting the story, Ted! LOL!

Bandido, I'm sure you are a great guy, but this is kinda third hand information about Efren's check. From Rolando to Linds to you to us. When Efren tells me to my face that he got paid $350,000 (500K minue 150K for IRS?) I will believe it. Until then I remain skeptical.

I hope he gets every penny of it. Efren is a good man, humble and generous. I'd rather he have the money than KT, who seems to have a fondness for fast cars and fast women.

Ok, I'll state it clearly here. He didn't receive the check. He didn't receive the cash. Efren has so far not received anything but promises.

Oh, and the pettiness here is unbelievable...

Pettiness? There is no such thing as pettiness when it comes to a person actually geeting the cash (legal tender) in his hand. Is this how you backtrack on your initial statement?

Who are you anyway compared to Rolando Vicente when it comes to "intimate information" regarding Efren's affairs?

Now Jay,you've struck me as a smart nd friendly guy from the first time we've met. It is not a "to you", referring to Edwin Reyes. I did state "in my presence"!

I've also stated the distinction of "check" and "cash" here and even in previous posts. Is that hard to understand? Was that English or am I speaking greek? I just don't get the reason for the reading comprehension deficiency?

You know what Edwin? I don't really give a rip whether Efren got paid or not. If you got caught with your foot in your mouth, well, only you can attempt to extract it. I never belittled you as you have me. You are hyper sensitive and are acting like baby in public. Good on ya' mate.

Now, I'm going to go back to writing up my feature story on the Philippine Open for Billiards Digest, in which I am prominently featuring your boy Mike Takayama, after his brilliant run through the field. Don't bother asking me for a copy when we see each other at the World Pool Championship.

So do I Ted, I just innocently shared in a jovial mood the info that was voluntarily shared by Rolando Vicente.

Wrong again. I have stayed consistent here and in prtevious threads. There is nothing that needs extracting.

The question of "reading comprehension deficiency" is valid for with its existance comes disinformation. I never did question what you shared about Efren's reply to you, "No Cash". I took your word for it. What I did question and replied to was your twisting the story about the info that I, and others here in Manila, shared with this board. Such info about the "reciept of the check" was even acquired first hand by nbc directly from Bustamante. NOTE: RECIEPT OF CHECK!

You do that and think again who's acting like a baby in public with your above statement. Should that "Don't bother asking me for a copy" be followed with a nanner-nanner?

It's not Greek or English.

Here I will translate it for you.... Translation " Wah, wah, wah, sob, sob. I like to winge about little petty things."

Edwin,

With a name like Reyes I never want to cross you. Sorry if I offended you in any way, that was not my intention. I may have been unclear and for that I apologize.

What I thought I read was a communication that originated with Efren telling Rolando he had gotten the check, and then Rolando relayed this to Linds and YOU. Now you were relaying this information to us at AZ. To me this is third hand. Maybe I lost count somewhere.

First drinks on me in Manila. You can buy the second. Then we play Banks for dinner. Deal?

No, no Jay. Not one bit was I offended. I was trying to get people to understand my very first statement about this. According to Rolando V and my understanding of what he said was that the CHECK was recieved but not encashed thus Linds will be surprised if he suddenly returns one day and buys every cue in Linds' shop. So, to summarize Rolando's message, the check was recieved but yet to clear.

EDIT:
To summarize. My, and the other guys in Manila, message is "The check's recieved but not cleared". The current message from Ted is "No Cash recieved". The bottomline is "No Cash in Hand"!
End of story.

Banks? oh oh, you'll return home so fat that they'll need to widen the plane's hatch.LOL!

Perhaps that will clear up any confusion because in another thread people in Manila were claiming he had indeed gotten paid. Well, the horses mouth said otherwise...

Ted Lerner,
First of, I have nothing against you personally as I only reply to the post and not the poster. This second paragraph, in your opening post of this thread, is false which could've been stated only under 2 reasons. The reasons can either be 1. maliscious motive or 2. Reading Comprehension Deficiency. Giving the benefit of the doubt I opted for the latter, wouldn't you agree?

Secondly, I post with emotions detached from the topic so as to understand and answer intelligently and with all fairness.

And too, Thank you for your accurate and factual insights of the SMB Phil-9 Open.

Edwin Reyes

My guess is that Efren will have a really big smile on his face after the Tuesday announcement by Kevin.

Until then he ain't sayin nuttin'.

If bandido is correct it must be assumed that the cheques for Efren and Bustamente had to be smuggled out by KT from under the noses of those 30 lawyers and accountants who deemed payment of players to be legally unaceptable, maybe as a personal favour to these two.

Alternatively, perhaps there is an obscure legal reason far too complicated for us common folks to understand why payment of those two would be legally acceptable whilst payment of the other 198 players would be legally unaceptable.

Failing that,is it even remotely possible that bandido could be wrong and that they have received neither the cheques nor the cash?

Ok Bandido, you win. I don't really care to fight it out here. My intentions were of the best, to simply report what I heard straight from the horses mouth. I had no intention of maligning you or anyone else. My reference to the idea that there were other people who said otherwise, who were implyng that he had indeed gotten paid, was only to reference what another thread had been saying. Clearly I didn't read the entire contents of that VERY long thread and quite get the 100% jist. For this I apologize. You must understand that too I'm busy earning a living to pay full, absolute attention to message forum threads. Maybe reading deficiency isn't far from the truth. But I'd like to think it was more like "message board reading deficiency."

As you surely know, I love Efren and would of course like to see him get what he earned. But if he gets stiffed, it takes nothing away from his greatness. The president couldn't give a rip about Kevin Trudeau. It's Efren she and the nation loves. If anything, Trudeau might end up getting that most Filipino of honors; to be declared "persona non grata" by every city mayor throughout the Philippines. Now wouldn't that be an interesting news item to cover.

In the meantime, I need some factual bio on Mike Takayama. Why don't you send it to me..

Cheers

While you're translating, would you be so kind as to translate 'winge' for me ? I entered 'winge' in my handheld Spelling Ace from Radio Shack and it BLEW UP.......

I apologize Ted for this is a no win situation as it just messes up the chi. And yes it was more like message board reading deficiency rather than the term I used which can be taken harshly.

Bio on Mike? I'll get it together and shoot it through e-.

Considering the situation when the information was volunteered by Rolando, yes there is a possibility that Rolando was retaliating to Linds reply that the cues that Rolando wanted are already spoken for. Except when he answered Linds' follow-up question of when it was recieved.

You mean next Tuesday or the Tuesday after that or maybe Tuesday, June 17, 2009. It's a little hard to pin KT down to a straight answer. After all, what does "is" really mean?

One of the possible problems with "Tuesday's announcement" is that it could very well be... (KT's note to self - replace carrot on the string) "There's been unexpected delay's and the sale is not yet final, but you will get your checks as soon as everything has been settled."
