I think if he left the Phillipines and made a commitment to come here and play in all the tournaments he would be one of the greats. I saw him play 9 ball and just destroyed his opponents in California.
As far as respect goes some people dont know how to and is a reflection on their own respect for themselves. Efren is a true Hall of Famer and a master of the game. When we talk of all around there is no other like him. Rotation, 9 ball, 8 ball, one pocket, Billiards, snooker, Balkline, he masters all. Some of us dont deserve to even mention his name with such irreverence. This man has given us so much and has taught us new ways to look at the game. When someone refers to him as an "old fart" he is obvious ignorant of the kind of respect, particularly Asians, given to those of superior stature like Efren. Besides the only thing that resembles a "fart" is the smell of the post that mentions it.

Yap sorry that i forgot to mention Ramil Gallego...he is one of
the great player here in the Philippines too...that's why i have
just to include "many, many others"...
From where i came from, here in Cebu, there are many good players that could came up with any of them although many of them are now getting
old or have been a victim to vices..We have here "Paklay" and
"Sernic" this is efren's contemporary...the former for a long time dominated
the pool here in Cebu..we have also "Boy kilid", "Akil", "Boy sweepstakes"
who i heard before during efren's hey days..could give a run for his money
and skills wise they are very close...but unfortunately he was dead already..
What we have right now, who is playing in international seen who is
coming from Cebu, is Warren Kiamco...very good player too..
Just here...yobagua
