Pretty incredible that Efren would still be a top 10 player in the US at age 67.
I wonder what his Fargo would have been in his prime.
Keep in mind that the Fargo ratings, while having pretty good absolute values on their own meaning they translate between areas, are based on the opponents you play and are linked to. Since he was in the top few players of the era, he would be in the 800-830 range since that would compare him to his contemporaries, along with Archer, Strickland, Hall, Sigel and a few others. Going by the fact that the top players now are at the 800+ level.
Now the question that will never be truly answered is would those players be in the top 10 of the Fargo ratings if the current top 10 players were sent back in time 20-30 years and had the same time on the equipment of that era to get comfortable on, with the knowledge and practice style they put in today. I think if that was the case, the current players would be in the 820-830 as they are now and the top players of the 80s and 90s would be say 790-810. So say Shane would be beating Archer on average 11-8. All guesses though.
