Did you dvr it?

Nope, I thought I did. Damn... Bandido should have it. This was recorded by Studio 23 (Local Pinoy Channel) . Should be easy for him to get a copy if he hasn't yet.

You called? Hehe, but of course I have a copy of the matches and every other that'll be made of our tournaments.

Joey, am working on a big Kadayawan Festival Shootout. I believe you'll be here in August?

Yeah, he's great, but he wasn't honestly trying to make it. Even that great kick in the 95 Sands match against Strickland had an element of luck to it. But let's be honest in favor of him too, you gotta be great to even get that close.
MULLY

In the Alcano video, you will notice that when Efren first got to the table, he pointed his cue stick at the angle off the long cushion just before the planned impact. In the Strickland video, just before taking the shot, he pointed out the path to were the cue ball would go to after the impact with the 5 ball. And in both instances, everything went as predicted and as intended.

What makes pool exciting is that the element of luck is always integrated with shots of high degrees of difficulty -- be it kick shots of ultra thin shots. To be perfect in pool is to be lucky, leave included.

Yes, Efren was lucky, but I would not think that he would execute shots like those had he deemed them as reckless shots that would cost him defeat (or the prize money in quantifiable terms).

What is peculiar with this man is that when he is faced with a difficult shot, he can look like he has no slightest idea of what to do as he studies his options. And when he makes the shot, he never fails to entertain the crowd with his big toothless smile looking like he really got lucky. A Strickland (or any other pool player) would pump his fist with a victory roar after shots like those. Efren's body language of shoulders shrugging, head-scratching, nose-touching... these are all acquired traits that he learned from his younger days when he had to protect his hustling from his skill.

Do not be deceived.

Am scheduled bud.

The first time I saw Efren play was before the '84 Red's tourney in Houston.

As I was walking up to sit down at the rail, I saw Efren hit a 4 rail kick shot to make the ball and spin out of a corner to get shape on the next ball.

As I was sitting down next to a friend of mine, I whispered, "Jeez, that's got to be the luckiest shot I ever saw."

My friend said, "Sit down and you'll see a lot of lucky shots."

It was filmed by Solar Sports and not Studio23.
