I would like to share an article that another fellow posted years ago in a different forum. It is dated Feb 20 1983 and it talks about the pool scene in the Philippines around that era. Hope you enjoy.

This was in 1983, he was 33

Here it is 2008, and he can still play with almost anyone in the world.

As can Efren, obviously.

Truly amazing the knowledge, skill, and stamina these players have attained.

along the same note, I was BS''in at the pool room today where I used to work and glanced at the picture frame on the wall I have seen a million times. This time it caught my eye. They used to run the junior nationals there and there was a bunch of articles from days gone by with players like Charlie Williams, Jason Miller, Corey Deuel, Mike Coletrain, Watson, and a bunch o others!...I"m gonna bring the digital down there next week so we all can get a closer look!

It mentions a table with a marble bed. Anyone played on one? How is it different?
 
wow, thanks for the article. i think he was invisible at the time, so full of determination you can tell from the eyes. too bad that i didnt see the old efren.

the wiki article said he won chicago billiard cafe open in 1985 but didnt say when he came over to the US. does it mean that he came in about 1984? since he was in the philippine in 1983?

Thanks for sharing sir..Great old school article..Gotta love those monikers Totoy Bato, Bicol Katawan, Babalu..hehehehe....I actually had a chance to watch Jimmy Cheng play last Jan. in One Side...He still shoots pretty good..Ingat. pz
