A Mosconi Cup team member and former (and future) winner of the DCC One Pocket is going toe to toe with (and is behind to) some guy that literally could be his grandfather’s age.
Freddie <~~~ hooray for the old guy!
A lot people that were thinking Efren didn't have the stamina at his age to play these long grueling races like this better think again.
Billy had control of the match early and went out to a 7-4.lead.
I looked pretty bleak for Efren, Billy was firing in banks and took advantage of a few poor shots and few bad decisions from Efren.
But then Efren seemed to get a 2nd wind he came alive and took control late in the match.
Efren made up the deficit with three wins in a row and won 5 out of 6 games to take a 9-8 lead.
Billy showed heart though, he won the 18th game to take it to hill hill and breaking for the match.
Efren slowly and methodically worked his way out of Billy's break and turned the whole game around and put the pressure on the young gun.
In the end The Magician showed he still has some magic he two railed a ball off another ball for the match.
Efren still had enough energy to do a little dance after he won.
Both players battled their a$$ off, it was a hell of a set.
