Efren has so much class in and out of the pool room! From tipping a cleaning lady $100 to laughing at himself when he misses an easy shot! If all the pros had his attitude the mens tour would be as big as it should be! It is obvious from watching him, that he is not only one of the greatest pool players ever but also a fine human being!!!

I couldn't agree with you more!!! I've been singing the same song for a long time now. I just wish I could be more like him both as a shooter and as a person. He just amazes me and I don't think there are a lot of people out there that see him the way you and I do. The pool world should build a monument to this guy and invite the rest of the world to see what class in competition really means.

well, not all "old" filipino pool players are like efren, sometimes when i manage to defeat a 40+ yr old player here in our place, he's so noisy he's bragging to his companions about his cue, tips etc. some cant accept loss like efren does.

The Pool hall that I am a member of in the Philippines (Coronado), is the hangout of Efren, Bustamante, Luat, Andam, and a few other pros.
I can tell you guys that no matter how often I have seen Efren play or practice, it is just so exciting to watch him hit those balls.
The way he controls that cue ball just leaves me in awe every time. You just dont get tired of watching the "Living Legend" of Billiards play.

I really envy you!!! I wish I could watch Efren play all the time. Every time I watch him, I'm mesmerized!! I saw him play 1 hole and he would make the cb travel 4 or 5 rails and it still would have just enough spin on it to cinch up behind a ball. I just couldn't believe anyone could have that kind of control until I saw it happen, and he repeated it over and over throughout the night.
I saw him up in Reno play in the tournament during the day, go down and play blackjack the rest of the time, and then gamble playing 1 hole all night and he did this practically every day. The guy just isn't human!!

I have a few tapes of matches but i only have one from ESPN of Efren playing nine ball. Im going to order a few from Accu Stats. Anyone have any recommendations on what matches are the best with Efren in them ??

Efren vs. Mizerak, Pro Tour Championship, semi-finals match. Efren runs rack after rack on poor Miz.
Efren vs Bustamante, 1999 Cardiff World 9-Ball, semi-finals match. Efren runs 9 racks in a row. Very rare tape though.

i think i was able to watch that efren vs django match at least 10 times! i hav that tape. recorded it during that match. The commentator said it was for keepers. He was damn right!

Efren Has been My favorite player since 94. There is no doubt in my mind he is the best all-around player of all time!
OK, I have a question for those that have the privledge of seeing Efren hang out in poolrooms. There was a story going around about Efren's ability playing chess. The story was that the "spot" Efren gave was that he would turn his back to the board and his opponent would tell him what moves he was making. Efren would play the entire game on memory of the board. Any truth to this story?
