I'm addicted to Efren's videos from the PI where he plays unknown players. The previous two videos I watched he lost and was using a carbon shaft. In the middle of today's video he was losing again and switched back to wood.

Another thing I've learned from these videos. If a pro from this country walked into a pool hall in the PI it wouldn't take long for a player he heard of to show up and give him his money's worth.

Another Efren discussion and we are to believe this current crop of players are better in the past? To be fair Efren is the greatest of all time but he had to face some all time greats on his paths to victories.

I enjoy the Magician as well.

Thanks for the link.

I'm guessing "6-10" means Efren is getting the 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 as a handicap. Does the "+2" mean he also gets the last 2, or did he get 2 games on the wire?

EDIT: Just looked at the start of the match. Efren didn't get 2 games on the wire, so "+2" evidently doesn't mean that.

In this case he was getting 2 on the wire had he as to pocket the 6 to win. Two days ago it was 8-10 +1. Yesterday it was +1 race to 20 no ball advantage. What's interesting is he switched back to wood and also interesting is the last time he attended DCC he went deep in the one pocket tournament.

The best player in the USA is 42 years old. What would qualify as "current crop"?

He did go deep that year. The wood shaft he used was a 314. Even though it’s wood it’s still LD and not very different than the Carbon shafts. Now if he would have went back to the old school high deflection wood shaft that would have been way different.

He took third in 2023. Imagine him getting this kind of weight in the PI from people we never heard of. Average American pro goes to the PI he will have no trouble finding action.

Here's an entertaining scotch doubles match between Efren/Alcano vs. Manas/Sucal. Interesting that Efren started the match with a carbon fiber shaft but switched mid-match to wood.
