I dont know the OP. But when somebody tries to use shady practices during a business deal, that should tell you a lot about them. Thats the part I can't get over. When you bypassed ebay, you lost all your buyer protections. Of course you already know that now.
I would just take it as a lesson learned, and enjoy your new cue. You did say you liked the way it played. Take it out and kick some ass with it!

Good advise... Learned it loooong ago by just reading these forums...NEVER GIFT MONEY, NEVER SHIP WITHOUT FULL INSURANCE VALUE, ALWAYS USE ESCROW IF YOU DONT KNOW THE PERSON WELL...

Skins ----------- knows trying to save a dime will cost you dollar...

Now the picture became a little brighter. A new 129 at Seyberts is going for $483.65 usd.
Did it come with more then one shaft ( looks like two shafts for it in the pic.)?
Not sure what the conversion rate is, or the "across the border" shipping cost, but you could have gotten a new one for cheaper or the same as the one you got. Did you not do your shopping around? I assume you looked at new examples on the web.

1 shaft only. He wanted to charge me extra for the z shaft.

The seller charged me 75$ USD for the shipping which is 92$ Cad then he went without my knowledge and used the cheapest possible USPS service they offer so most of that shipping cost went in his pockets.

483$ USD is 626$ Cad and I still would have to pay shipping on seybert, I did see that cue on seybert btw, I was looking to buy a cue for 1 month before I bought this one.

True man. His ebay rep got me good. Not gonna look at ebay rep the same ever again after this one.

Well damn, that's still fraud to me since you had to turn the contrast up so much just to make it out lol.

I could see it without turning it up... They say a picture tells a thousand words, well Ive seen thousands of pictures and have a wee bit of an eye for finding flaws some may never notice. It's easy actually if you know what to look for...

I actually work in photoshop my self, I did not notice anything in that picture. Certainly not to the extent of the picture I took anyways.

It's true the cue can perform just as good in the shape that it is now then if it was brand new but for me it's a mental thing, I like to have a cue that is ding free and in good shape because I don't ever hit the cue when I miss a shot or anything like that. I would never have a cue reach this condition, it's not me. I also don't drink so that's one thing that's good for my cues.

I still hope the seller wants to do the right thing. I am still offering to pay for the 75$ fast shipping to his house for refund. I don't mind paying the shipping. I would also like to note that if the bank refunds my credit card today, I will still ship him his cue even though I wouldn't have to.

My 2 cents and SOME COMMON SENSE on this whole issue.

If Sebroy was a scammer, he would'nt have gifted the money as there wld equate to putting the ball in someone else court or either that he is the dumbest scammer i could ever thinK of.

On the other hand, there is always 2 sides to a story n maybe he just regretted what he bought when he saw a brand new going way less than what he paid and i'm in no postition to judge who's right or wrong.

To Sebroy and new Azers and this have been repeated countless times, for **** sake and your own protection and being able to sleep better at nite , please don't ever gift the money , why save a paltry 3% when ya paying hundreds or thousands .

Hell, i would even give 3% if im paying 50 bucks when i know paypal have my best interest or use escrow for purchase over 500.

An example, chicago Rj selling magic chalk for $12 refuse to allow anyone to gift it when its in his favor if he wants to screw someone , thats a responsible seller and i think we can all learn from it to keep Az free from scammer n assholes.

Sebroy, sorry to say but i doubt you will get the outcome you hope for although you may be innocent but the way u handled payment doesnt seem to put anything in ur favour at the moment, take it as a lesson learn , play w the cue or sell it for a fire sale n buy a new one. Good luck :)

Have a great sunday ahead everyone :)

Yes you are 100% right. If I was a scammer I would be the worst scammer in the history of the scam business.

Yes, I did know the price for a brand new OB 129, with the shipping and everything, it would have come close to 800$ CAD. I wanted to save 200$ because I clearly asked him many times about the condition of the cue and his answers were not honest, he made it sound like the cue was in perfect shape and because his ebay rep was so good, I trusted him.... Never again will I put trust into someone just from ebay rep, it doesn't mean the person is a good person or honest whatsoever apparently. I am naive some times, I put a lot of trust in people I don't know because me personally. I could never do such a thing and in my mind I just don't understand how anyone could do it. If I were to sell this cue back, I would use the HD pictures I took of what's wrong with the cue because if I did not do that, I would be a dishonest person and being honest and fair and a good person is more important to me than making money... Money is just an illusion, character traits and a persons intentions are worth more than billions.

I guess this is why the seller thinks I am a conspiracy nut cause I post things about humanity on facebook about freedom and equality. Like I am really against the TPP, if that's a conspiracy theory then I don't know what to say,

Here's my facebook for anyone who wants to see how much of a ''conspiracy nut'' I am. Sebastien Roy Dieppe New Brunswick.

Someone suggested me on my facebook to use a beer bottle and rub it on the dings to get rid of the dings. Is that really a wise idea? Wouldn't that scratch the coating of the cue?

Hey man,

The beer bottle trick does work but it will essentially push down the wood grain around it. It wont be as noticable but it wont really be "fixing" the problem. There are a couple guys that do repair work in halifax and I dont think they would charge much to repair the dent in the shaft.

The billiard shop is one of them. The other is maloney's cue repair. He is on facebook and does everything from dent repair to leather wraps. Not sure if there is anything in the maritimes for repair of the joint or butt damage :(

Thanks a lot man, I will look into that. Halifax shipping would not be too much for me.

There are quite a few threads on here about deep dent removal. Might be worth checking out before shipping it out for repair. Just be cautious aboutwhat methods you use as the ob shafts are glued together and some methods may loosen the glue.

It is all good to know even if you dont use it on your ob. Well worth a couple hours reading.

I know a guy who sent a damaged cue to muellers and was shocked with how great it looked when it came back. Might be worth sending them some pics and asking for a quote.

Not sure about that.

You might wanna contact Ryan Theewen at Rat cue from mullers, guy's quite reputable on Az, dont take my word for it and do some research.

Quoted me $125 usd for a refinish.

So you got 3 options, play with it as it is with the mindset, its the indian not the arrow,

pay 125 but that wld prob equate to getting a new one or sell it at a real fire sale at 200 usd and buy a cue u like.

No point *****ing over it, if you are innocent, im sorry but shit happens, look past it and move on.

Believe me you are in a situation way better than mine, at least your ex-gf didnt borrow ur cue n case and refuse to return it after breaking up, now thats some serious bullshit but i learn to move on n be smarter.

Thought i was smart when i never gift payment to be scam, and here i am. Welcome to life buddy , look on the bright side lol

Hey thanks.

Yeah no, in the condition that the cue is right now, I would not be able to sell it for 200$. I would have to show the buyer the hd pictures I took of the flaws in the cue and we both know it's almost impossible to sell a beat up cue like that because, who would want a beat up cue? I've had cues for years and there was never any dings like this cue have, I don't even understand how you can get a cue to that point, you must really not care for it or be drunk.

Wow! I didn't realize that the Canadian dollar fell off that much. I thought the US dollar was bad!

As for the dents, the one was too bad for the bottle rub. It might get most of it out, but not all. Instead of a bottle, use a Cue Doctor dent buffer. The end of it is round. A flat beer bottle (and the dent buffer if used inproperly) will make a flat spot on your cue if you rub it in the same spot. You have to roll the shaft back and fourth slowly to spread out the work area. That will keep your shaft nice and round. It takes a LONG time to properly get a dent out this way. Several days for some dents. Just work on it a day at a time and most of it can be removed. Don't press too hard (firm is ok, but not crushing) and rub vigorously to build up a little heat. Be patient.

And if the dent isn't in your stroke range, I would just fix it the best I could, and forget it.

Hey thank you.

There are some dings in the grip area which are annoying when holding the cue. It is annoying to me anyways, I hate dings.

Nah, US dollar is doing strong right now !

Yea. I completely agree. I am very picky about my cues. I lend them to no one. Well, I would let my brother use them, but no one else. And, of course, I got a dent in mine by some idiot who slid a chair into it. Its not bad, but annoying. I work hard at taking care of it. But I got over it. I never intend to sell it anyway. I think that it might be possible that the added "battle scar" made it play better!

That sucks man. Of course when someone takes good care of his cues it's usually someone else s fault that caused a ding like your case.
