Hard to say, prolly between hard and soft.

The cognoscenti refer to them as "dick" tips cause the more you play with them the harder they get:oink:
 
I pressed an Elk half the normal size and it is pretty hard. The ones Efren has I whould say they are medium.
 
Elk Master tips are spongy soft ain't it? I use to use them. I guess he press them so that they will not mushroom very quickly when you just change on a new tip.

I think he's been telling everyone he plays with an elkmaster, but no one knows for sure.

Personally, I love my pressed elkmasters. Cut thin, and right about when they start making a good noise--between a donk and a clink sound. lol, that sounds stupid....! but it's the truff!

Seriously!! I do my own tip work, and at first the trials always came out mushy and wrong. I'd just keep shaving them down with my tip sander, until they got to a certain depth, and low and behold I forgot how bad they played.

Now I press them a little more, not so much longer (which is a 24hr period).

If I feel they play too soft, I just practice breaking medium speed for a full squatting cue ball in 9 ball for a good hour or so, and I'll sand down the tip if necessary. That usually does the trick, plus I'm giving 100% focus to a good cue ball on the break, as the tip is "maturing".

The resonance or pitch of my cue when stroking light is always super sweet when my elkmaster finds itself. And the shelf life is pretty good too--I'd say 2-3 months of daily play. Sometimes longer.
