I was watching my DVD of the match between Efren and Earl back in 1995 when Efren made his famous Z-shot. My question is what table were they playing that match on?

Was it a Gold Crown 3?

Or was it the Advantage table made by AMF that is a Gold Crown look-alike?

I think it's a legit GC3. Can faintly see the B. The knockoffs didn't have the B.

What difference would it make?????? It was one of the two you mentioned. UPDATE: got REALLY fkng bored and checked. The 'B' is clearly visible on the ball box trim.

Gold Crown for sure.

It's definitely harder on modern pro tables, most of them bank shorter and with 4 inch pockets it's an easy miss.
Don't think I've ever seen a pool table play/bank like a carom table.

Maybe that's a lie... Years ago I played on a Vitalie (sp??) and it played well to the Corner 5 system.

From 5 to 2 to 3 to the corner isn't correct. But that's how pool tables play and it makes Efren's Z shot even more spectacular.

He can figure all the numbers, even when the numbers are all wrong and be comfortable with whatever gaff he's playing on.

When Efren said he "got lucky", he DID.

Hitting the ball is one thing, but making it on the crucial shot is a totally different thing.

I have shot and made shots way harder than that and called them because I had a general idea that the ball would go in a certain direction if I hit it. On occasion, I would actually "get lucky", but if you set the shot up a hundred times in a row after that, I would "get unlucky".

With kicks I got tired of people raving if one went so I adopted the humble ass confession bit. The other thing you get to an annoying degree is "Nice Try!!" .../
