I went and looked it up in slow motion just as a reminder. While he came off an inside wall it looked like over a half inch from the point to center of ball so the corner pocket could probably have been a half inch smaller on each side, a full inch smaller overall, and Efren's shot would have still went. Today's pockets aren't that much tighter and different cloth and other factors help offset pocket size. Having played for over fifty years I believe today's tables still play overall easier. Balls a little better, cloth a little better, cushions probably in better shape, angles cut cleaner, I find today's tables easier to play on.
