Eight ball pocketed on carom

What one considers "clean" varies substantially. the "ball and pocket" call is supposed to eliminate those "not clean" complaints. If it was the right ball and pocket and you hit your own ball first, you should be good under "ball and pocket" rules.

One reason for 9b's popularity is the simplicity of rules. You can play 9b with people even when you don't speak the same language.
That's the #1 reason i don't play 8 ball. To many damn screwed up rules all over the place. I'll play a tournament with clear rules other then that I'm not playing.

Imagine how I felt moving to a Spanish speaking country with weird rules.
My only advice is play for fun.
Don't gamble unless you are sure of the rules and don't bet more than you can afford to lose.

Or be cheated out of.
Is my rule.
I didn't run into "cheating" so much as misunderstanding of rules. Their rule that the 1 and 15 go in opposite side pockets and that you cannot disturb the opponents 1/15 ball I didn't like. also their definition of "clean" was problematic. If your 5b is near the side pocket and I use it to carrom my 15 off of, a called contact, that should be considered "clean" in my mind. It's a called shot, ball and pocket plus the carrom contact.

1-15 is a pure gaff game akin to last-pocket or bank-the-eight. I used to love it when some bar sucker said 'bank the eight'. Pure hiway robbery. ;)

Generally speaking 😉 my first contact with new prospects (playmate? or customer), allowed them full credit. Low stakes, usually "a beer", allowed me to buy a new aquaintence a beer. Easy enough to determine their intentions, if rules that are unusual are introduced as I am setting up for the game ball .
More often than not, I have enough confidence in the disparity of skill sets, that I will proceed amicable and Mr congenial. Figure the adage, "you can only be hustled when You are trying to hustle." Is license for me to school them.🤷
I honed my Sales skills driving cab. The tips made the job profit.

During an 8 Ball match my opponent was on the 8 ball (called shot). My ball was partially blocking the pocket. He pointed to the pocket and caromed the 8 ball off of the other ball. I asked him what rule made that a legally pocketed ball. His reply was that there was a local rule used by one of their leagues. Looking into a few rule books I found multiple explanations.
I typically play using BCA rules, and I don’t feel bound by a local agreement.
What would be the appropriate ruling for called shots on the 8 ball?

I think the only rules where you can't play a carom is the rules where there are no rules outside of the ones the players made up or passed down from others that did not how to play LOL

As long as you call the pocket, and execute a legal hit, it does not matter how the ball gets there. Clean, off 3 rails, off 3 other balls, etc... If it drops into the pocket called, it's good. Less issues that way IMHO.

Well I guess I should have said, "the N word a and the N word er". I see a notice that my post was removed for questionable language.
The language was English or perhaps American would be more precise. My intention is not to offend any culture. . The political correctness culture is sometimes hard for me to understand.
N-word, N-word, N-worder..... hope the culture can take a joke. I feel better now.🤪

The 8 ball could have entirely missed the pocket, went around the table, hit the cue ball 10 times then caromed off your ball, then went around the table 10 times, hit the cue ball again and went to the called pocket, YOU LOSE. Unless the cue ball scratched.
Good sir...I do NOT think that could happen at all.
