does anyone have any input on the elephant ear wraps?..im looking to have my cue rewrapped and i recieved samples of different wraps to test feel...i currently use a lizard wrap..its not the higher quality lizard...but for the elephant ear wraps.. does it cause sweaty palms or collect a lot of dirt in it for example..it has a nice feel and texture to it but im concerned about playing with it...i do not normally get sweaty palms if that helps....just looking to get opinions on what people think....thanks

Elephant ear is the nuts. I have both my Ginas wrapped with it. When new it is a bit micro-abrasive (like don't rub it against a silk shirt). Stays clean, no sweat problems.

Or go with elephant scrotum? Now THAT would be the nuts!
 
Be aware that elephant leather and elephant ear leather has a slight "bite" to the feel of it. Some more than others depending on the finish on the leather. This bite is what appeals to most of us who like it. It is also one of the easiest wraps to maintain. Maybe 2x a year I will tamp my wrap with a damp paper towel followed by a completely dry cloth. YMMV. Martin

A lot of the elephant skin is tanned in such a way that it has a pretty grippy texture to it. For that reason cases that have a snug padded fit to them are often not a good match for a grippy wrap. We make sleeves for this purpose and have enllarged our cavities a bit over the years to deal with grippy neoprene wraps. Haven't really had a problem with elephant wraps in years but at one time we had a couple issues of people getting their cues stuck because of the wrap's grip. Once with a JB Case and once with an Instroke case.

So be careful there.

IF you put your cue in joint down you shouldn't have a problem. Only joint up is a problem because the fat part of the cue has to push the foam rubber protection aside to come out of the case.
 
I've had linen, cork, lizard and elephant ear. I played with ringtail lizard wrap for about three years, thought it was the best...until I got an elephant ear wrap on my latest player. I absolutely love it. The texture is unique (soft, supple, yet "grippy"). I would think sweaty hands would appreciate elephant ear best, although my hands are generally dry.

I love my elephant ear wrap...wish I had it on all my cues. I got mine from this^ guy, and it was top quality.
 
I've had leather, lizard, linen, elephant, ostrich, wood & cork... Cork wins for me. Guido Orlandi cork to be specific.
