I read this on the Facebook Matchroom Pool Forum posted by Jim Telfer: I

"In order to be eligible to participate in a Matchroom invitational event, as well as being ranked within the criteria threshold for that Matchroom invitational event, a player must have completed in all prior Matchroom Open events leading up to the Matchroom Invitational event in that season, unless such non-participation was a result of medical or unforeseen circumstances.

"If the player's withdrawal due to medical grounds is not confirmed after the following procedure at clause 2.3 of Appendix I, or if the player has not followed the procedure at clause ...."

SVB is not going to the UK Open (May 6-11, 2025) which makes one wonder if he will be eligible to compete on the Mosconi Cup this year. I reda that Fedor is going to be touring in Indonesia while the UK Open is in progress.

Might be some new faces on Team USA this year.

Can't see then dropping SVB and Fedor.

I suspect SVB and Fedor will have been granted permission to miss this event.

It's a completely different scenario to Filler, who was siding with the WPA.

If I remember correctly, Kaci did the same last year? He missed an event as he had enough points to qualify for the Mosconi/Reyes Cup due to his runner-up position in the world championship.

I just heard on the Window's Open podcast from yesterday with Molina Mike and Mike Panozzo that the UK Open was scheduled at the same time as a large billiard expo in China, which was scheduled before the UK Open. SVB is attending the China billiard expo event, which is what his sponsors would like. At least that's the way I understood the Window's Open podcast.

The UK date came out way too late. Seems some players skedded events before the UK event was set. I don’t see any issues here.

I wonder if this rule would preclude a player like Feijin skipping, say, Hanoi for family reasons and not being able to get an automatic bid.
