League banquet

After checking food & drink prices, We have a league banquet at a local resturant prices. Meal & drinks are fee for shooter & 1 guest (shots are cash). After dinner we dance to a DJ & party and the league provides a ride home for anyone who doesn't have a DD. The following Sunday we have a scotch doubles tournament with cash prizes from the left over league money. Our league is BCA handicapped & in-house.

I play in a house league (singles 9ball) and the hall puts on a small banquet at the end of each season. It's not a lot but we appreciate it. They provide a basic cold-cuts/buns/cheeze buffet for us while we play a mini-tournament. The hall is licensed so we just belly-up right there. Of course most attend to recieve their payouts :D

What league are you playing in? Does Corey Boldt (sorry don't remember new last name) still run a Kalispell league? My impression is she would do something - but I know she is more than busy right now. She loves pool is an understatement and I know when she sold production cues to MT players she didn't put much (if any) markup for herself.

WOW
When I played in Phoenix on league, we got a little something but not anything like steak!

The place I used to play at just had an end of season tournament. That was all. I did play one league at a place where we had something to eat, but I was busy with final exams and only got to stop in to pick up my money.:(

Wow exactly great league there. I know last year first place got something like 1500 and it got lower funds down the ranks. Then the tournament pays out in First, Second and Third only. Something like 700 for first, food is free and such, nothing really special except the Indian Tacos MMmmMm LOL. Picture in the paper. But our leagues first round starts March 27 then we finish the second round on the 31st, can't wait hoping to be a second year repeats.

On an in-house league with 16 teams (5 play a night @ $7). The pay-outs are:

1st - $2912
2nd - $2128
3rd - $1456
4th - $1008
5th - $560
6th -4336
7th through 15th - 280 ea.

They hold a 50/50 raffle weekly to pay for the banquette. Nice buffet (not quite as nice as Eydie's) and an open bar from 7pm-10pm. League players only.

They will run tournaments during the course of the evening - 8, 9, J&J, Scotch.

Ive played in a couple of in-house bar leagues at this bar close to my house. On both occassions we had free banquets for the team meeting which was held a week before the league began and also a free banquet after that session ended.. Had lots of good stuff. Cocktail shrimp, italian beef, polish sausage, steak, grilled shrimp on a stick, pasta, salads, grilled steak tacos, all kinds of fried appetizers etc.. good stuff.. better when its free...

Eydie,
I play (or sub) in 3 leagues. One is a Masters type league and puts on a steak feed like yours. I think they charge $15 per player. They usually work out something with the beer distributer for free beer and they provide free soft drinks. The prize structure is a little more compressed, in other words there isn't such a spread between first and last place, I think the philosophy is that they want to encourage teams to stick it out even if they are gettng drilled every week.
My other two leagues are more bar banger leagues and they do cold cuts or burgers and brats for the end of season banquet.

That is pretty impressive...we do nothing. How many teams do you have? How many weeks do you all play? I am thinking of starting a league or actually helping our league operator run our league because she has no clue. Can you give me some particulars? Thanks.

End of session party

I have an in house league with anywhere from 12 -20 teams, $10 per week per person, 4 play. At end of session, every team gets money back with 3rd place or higher getting back at least what they paid in. The night of awards we have a buffet put on by the room with wings, potato salad, nachos, cole slaw, ham biscuits, beans and a couple of different desserts, soft drinks and beer paid for out of the league funds. Free pool for the 3 hours of the party. I hand out trophies to the top 2 teams, top guns male and female and highest runouts all get small cash prize and a trophy.

I currently pay out ~55% of all money paid in the form of prize money. 25% goes to table time. The rest goes to supplies and a small amount goes in my pocket for running the league. I supply each team with a financial statement at the end of the season showing how much they paid, how much they won and where the rest went. No one's complained, everyone tells me how much they enjoy themselves and no one's tried to take over the league in an effort to get rich either. :D

My APA does ZERO, my old TAP leage had a nice beer and food thing. It was kind of nice to sit and chat with some of the same poeple you see week in week out without really being able to sit and talk with them.

Hi Jackson

How you doing? You have more of Phoenix moving into your neck of the woods --- let me know when they show up (its a surprise until you see them).
Ya, we got something like that in Arizona. I still have my scorpion in my belt buckle --- but I had to go catch the damn thing myself!
