English Blackpool video

I played this game in the UK two years ago. Potting was very tough - the rounded pockets are difficult not to mention adjusting to miniature balls. I only played a few times and never got very accustomed.

After scratching, the incoming player is allowed 2 shots (innings) at the table. I'm guessing this is why it's called "2 Shot 8-ball".

Colin,
I just wanted to mention that a top rated UK 8 ball player who is in the IPT is coming to the US to stay with me for a while ....... He will be wearing my T-shirts in and around the IPT tournaments....

Freddy,am sure you'll be a great help to him,but.....my guess is that any IPT Pro who turns up "in or around" an IPT Tourney venue in a tee shirt (unless it's hidden under his dress shirt) will find himself in deep doodoo trouble with the IPT:D

I was thinking the same thing Mike...lol
Sponsor's logos (a couple) are ok, but have to be embroidered on shirts or vests and not too large. Cue cases can be well plastered in logos though I understand.

No need to check Daniel,it certainly was the 8 ft table used in the televised stages of this years event.

You are of course also correct that Ben Nunan had a great run in the event this year, following the fine showing of the other Oz man Evrianides last year.;)

Checked with Jake McCartney, and he said that the Under 18 Worlds used 7 ft tables with American cut pockets. They played in the same hall as the open comp, so maybe they only used 8ft tables at the end (doesn't seem logical though)?

As a continuation of talking about good players from Ballarat, sorry to miss out Colin Colenso, as he played here for serveral years. Also, Jake is turing into a gun, and went really well in the U18 comp, seeing as he was the youngest there (16).

Here is a better clip. It is taken from a promotional video of an event that ook place here in teh UK in July:

Where the winner took a £50,000 cheque first prize in a suicide format one frame tournament:

In the UK, there are two codes of 8 ball pool, the event referred to that includes Melling and Selby is in fact a rebel event that only really features English and GB based players. They are also the only ones that use bigger tables for the TV. Everyone else, including independents like teh PPC use the same size tv and otherwise.

The European Blackball Association, www.eba-pool.com are affiliated to the World Pool Association, www.wpa-pool.com. The Blackball World Championships are being held in Corke in Ireland in November with a reputed £100,000 purse (around $200,000 I would guess?) and will be televised and broadcast around the world.
