ok this may be a stupid question to some but i need to know. if you use bottom left hand english or bottom right hand english as well as high left and high right...should you still aim to compensate for the throw effect? I'm guessing yes but i need to be sure.

Probably some people will tell you differently. I think there are some that aim center ball then just use back hand english to put spin on but still aim at the original point, I don't agree with this.

When i get down on a shot. I already put my tip where i am going to hit the cueball and i adjust accordingly to where i aim by how much spin i am putting on the ball. I know if im putting bottom left on a ball and im cutting it to the right, that I need to hit the ball more full to make up for the throw.

Which "throw effect"?

I think this term is the most mis-used in pool.

YES. But you are adjusting for Squirt more than Throw....SPF=randyg

Anytime you use English, you need to be aware of squirt, swerve, and throw effects. FYI, I have many resources related to how and when you adjust your aim here:

As others have already stated, yes, you do need to compensate for squirt. And if you do a little bit of experimenting, I think you will find that the squirt is greater with bottom left and right than you will with top left and right.

Yes you have to compensate for squirt/throw. Some low deflection cues can help by minimalizing the amount of compensation when use want to use english. Predator and OB make some great products worth checking out. Oh and welcome to the forum.

I don't. But, then again, I generally don't when I'm using straight left or right. The "throw effect" is over-stated and over-emphasized, IMO.

What about close-to-1/2-ball-hit "stunny" shots with English. You don't adjust your aim for throw? Even on bar tables with "sticky" balls?

For throw, no, I don't. For swerve or squirt, yes I do.

As far as I know anything but an absolute dead center cue ball hit will produce throw/swerve/squirt/deflection, whether or not you need to compensate for these is dependent on the shot and your cue.
