Engraved Joints

i don't have a pic but you try looking up joss. i think there cues have engraved steel joints

I found two pictures on my computer with joints scrimshawed, I hope they'll somewhat match what you are looking for. One is a Gina (Fong Pang Chao's cue) and the other is a JW. If the picture is anyone's courtesy and wants them to be removed, let me know and I'll delete them.

Joss had some that were out of this world. I once stumbled across the website of the person who did the hand engraving and it was incredible. From what I understand it's much harder to engrave steel than other metals.

I engraved a few steel joints when we got the laser engraver. A normal laser engraver just barely marks the surface. You need a yag laser to really go deep on steel.

i saw a lot of them at the derby, lucasi I think is who had them, while i love the idea as its a blank canvas for art, I dont like the distration it creates. I love engraving on guns(some not to much) but on cues its not my bag. Even schrimshaw on ivory joints is just a distration, I guess I like the front end of a cue plain and the back half to be more ornate. thats just me. I could see a fad so to speak of engraved joints popping up someday

The pic in my avatar is of a joint on a Mike Cochran cue I just recieved.

They are called Laser Art Techniques, out of Baltimore, MD. Unfortunately, their website is long gone, however, I did find contact info, thanks to Mr Arnot's links on his website:

What I can tell you is that they did some really amazing work, and it could get as detailed as it comes! Think Ross tooling on a Justis case, and you'll get the general idea. :)
