JB Rugged Butterfly cases are tough as hell.Do any of you use soft sided envelope or butterfly style cue cases(when out playing away from home)? There are some really nice leather ones but I wonder if anyone has had issues with protection for their cues? Thanks In Advance
I have been using a $30 soft case for over 10 years without having any damage to my cues (while they were in it.)
Mike,Come on,If I can't run over my gear or toss it out of high rise buildings what fun is it?Joe Porper Originals USA made a butterfly case out of very strong and durable material - almost canvas like - but in various colors- the case is indistructable and holds everything you need. I have many cue cases- all types- but I never did anything with a cue in a case where I felt I needed a hard case to protect my cues from damage. I mean, really, unless you expect to be running over your case with a vehicle or dropping it off a building - any reasonably well constructed soft case will be just fine- it is your choice.
I think the Rusty Melton envelope case is just the nuts when it comes to pool cue cases. I have memories of the baddest most feared player I knew many years ago who walked into the pool rooms with nothing but a 1X1 leather envelope case wrapped in his arms. Just the pool cue inside- no pockets on the case, no straps, no handles, no pool gloves, extensions, break cues, shapers, NOTHING at all but his weapon of destruction!imo envelope (Melton) look great
Butterfly are VERY practical
i carried a butterfly style case when i traveled (business) heavily for almost 20 yrs, carried high end cues and never had an issue
the exterior was thin leather and the interior was thick felt or cotton
my case was a 3 x 6, however, it held more because of how they're configured
i'd contact Rusty (Melton) and see if he offered a butterfly style, if not i think Barton does
Stay healthy, adam
