Equipment testing?

I know this probably isn't the place, but a few years ago a friend of mine stated that there was a section of the forum or group of people that pass around products to try out, with the trust that they would return, if not buy. Was just wondering where and how would I find this on AZB. Thx all!

ceebee...That link does not work, and I don't think it's correct anyway. I believe you're referring to the BCA Seal of Approval process. The products submitted for approval are tried out and evaluated by the PBIA Instructor Committee, not the general public. The products must be approved by 4 out of 5 'testers' to be approved. People submitting products pay a fee to do so, and provide 5 of whatever product it is.

What the OP is likely referring to is a few posters who have set up a "try it out, and pass it on" program. Chuck Starkey did it with a couple of cues, and Tate did it with a few Tiger LD shafts. The groups were coordinated ahead of time, so that the products could be tracked. There is no set program to "test" equipment here on AzB.

I don't know that there has been anything like you are talking about here, at least since I've been here. I do recall a thread a couple of years ago from a maker that had either offered to have one of his cues/shaft passed around to a few guys on here for feedback. And as i recall there was something of an informal nominating process for who would get opportunity to review the product, mainly to well respected forum members.

But there is no organized section of the forum where this takes place among a bunch of producers, AFAIK.

Ok thx. Was hoping there was something more established to participate in. Sounds like a nice idea.

Scott Lee, that link pops up every time I click on it. As to whether or not the function of that group still exists, I can't tell you.

I knew of such a function, so I was attempting to help the OP....

ceebee...Sorry...the link worked this morning, but didn't work for me last night (could have been my computer). Yes, that program is still in existance, and works just as I described. I'm on that committee, btw.
