I don't disagree with some of the sentiments .. but 12squared set the rules early .. a person can pass on the expensive one and keep the line but cannot pass on the plain one. I accept the rules set by the person and thus am getting a plain one.

Having said that if anyone on number #4 to #9 wants #420 plain cue and wants swap the place with me, let me know ASAP.

Regardless, I'm very appreciative of Dave "12squared" for setting this up.

hmmm.. i didnt realize that was an option to be able to pass on the expensive one.. but not the plain ones.. i can live with that.. i myself think i would like something mid priced..

I think Dave's idea was to make the cue affortable to everyone who wants one .. like Chris2669 or others who many not necessary want a fancy one.

Me, on the other hand, is very vain :D

I PMed everyone on #4 - #9 list except for Brian (scruggsinhands - PM full) about getting my #420 for a swap in line to their place. I need the answer soon as I'm going to pull the trigger soon.
 
man I am starting too notice that I am in a good spot in line I think!! Not in the beginning and not at the end!! :D

As for the discussion of whether or not the next on the list can pass: I understand what you are feeling as far as having the option to pass or not when it's your turn and keep your place in line. However, let's not forget the spirit of this waiting list and getting Ernie back to work. Ernie's business manager decided to let Ernie make cues & asked me to post them on AZB to sell only a finished cue. Thus getting Ernie back to work & not putting anyone in jeopardy of loosing their deposits or not having promises fulfilled in the event that Ernie goes walk-about (no sign of that by the way:D). As soon as I posted that that would happen AZRs wanted to get on a list. The list was not the original intent, but it grew because that's what you all seemed to want and I wanted to be fair.

Now that there's a list I had to set some rules, again to be fair. The rules were simple, if your next, you buy the cue that's available - knowing the first ones would be plain. If the cue had points and was too expensive, you would have the option to pass until a plain one (more affordable) would become available without loosing your place in line. Now that the promised plain ones are available, people want points. So to help make everyone happy I said it would be OK if you swapped your spot with someone so you don't have to go to the bottom of the line, you simply take the spot of the AZR you swap with. If you can't find someone to swap with, buy the cue. You can always sell it and get back in line.

Remember, this is a great opportunity to get Ernie back working so we can keep his expert craftmanship in the billiard world. I hope this clearly explains the intent and the rules you all were aware of when you agreed to get placed on the list. The list is now 47 long :eek: :eek:.

Good for Ernie. I'm sure he is pleased to know so many admire his work. This should keep him busy for quite awhile.

Is there any indication how many cues he is planning to average per month? I'm #28 so three a month production will be around 9 months. Just curious.

By the way, I'm more interested in a cue with points as well.

Sorry I haven't checked back here in a few days. I received a PM about swapping places in line. I think the first three cues are fantastic, but I will take my chances and see what's available on the next batch, and will take whatever it is. I know that they will all be players no matter what they look like.

When you first three get your cues, please share your thoughts.

From what I am told, Ernie plans to make 8-10 cues for the next batch. Thye should be available in 2-3 mos depending on points etc. So things should be moving along fairly quickly, however, we are dealing with a cue maker & none of them are ever on time:p.

I just received my new Ernie Martinez cue (#418)! It is really nice. I took it out and hit some balls earlier today. It is the plainer of the first three that Ernie made, but is very aesthetically pleasing. It has a natural phenolic buttcap with Ernie's logo and trademark hexagonal shaped bottom, as well as natural phenolic rings and joint. The body is a quilted maple with nice figuring and has a white and brown speck wrap. The cue is nicely balanced and hits very close to the feeling you get when playing with an old Kersenbrock. Very, very solid... The only thing I plan on changing is the soft tip that came on the cue. I'm just a medium Moori guy. Frankly, I can't imagine how nice the cue will hit with the Moori!

Dave and Terry were very helpful. I had great communication with both of these guys, and would highly recommend doing business with them. The cue was sent in a timely manner, and was wrapped like Fort Knox. Ernie even made some J/P's for the cues at no extra charge. I got the certificate of authenticity (which even has a picture of Ernie at his lathe), which was nice and I like the idea of the x-ray opaque serial numbers. Last, but not least, the price was excellent!

Great to know Ernie's back at it, and that he has people around him that can help with the business side of the industry. He is a true craftsman, and I would certainly recommend jumping on his waiting list. Dave and Terry are very professional and are great to deal with. I believe they have Ernie's best interest at heart.

Also, thanks to Viperkiller who traded spots with me! I hope your cue is exactly what you want...
