just kidding, its showing the national spelling bee.:rotflmao1::rotflmao1::lol::lol::happydance::happydance:

I can see showing MATHletes on ESPN but spelling bee-letes??? I wonder how many calories you burn spelling words in competition.

That means ESPN2 gets more advertising dollars for showing the National Spelling Bee than putting on pool.

True.

It also implies the importance of SPELLING for our youth;
regardless of the path he or she chooses in life.

That's why I admire the Billiard Education Foundation (BEF).

I said it before and I'll say it again: you can be the best at anything in the
world, but if your spelling (and speaking abilities) is weak... well...
you see the result. Archer? No. The Pearl? No. SVB? No.

We don't have one (top tier) U.S. pool player who has the faculties to be the face of our sport so as to garner respect for the game.

Perhaps the BEF can turn out a few educated and well-spoken pool players so that we can have a breed similar to what we have in golf.

Pool needs a Jordan Spieth!

I have no idea, but apparently they're tuning in larger number than those of us who watch pool.

ESPN, TruTV derive their income by selling ad space; around 20 minutes for each hour of programming.

What do you think the demographic is for spelling bees? Just curious.

The last time I saw my guide full of pool, I was treated to women's softball instead. It turned out to be about as interesting as a trick shot competition though. Thank goodness for live streams and YouTube.

I want to see a spelling bee for pool players. No words allowed that have more than seven letters or two syllables. Dictionary in hand after your opponent misspells three words.

I'd rather watch a GOOD pool match than the National Spelling Bee but i like to watch the Finals of the Bee too.

If you are implying that SVB is not very verbally articulate I would assume that his hearing impediment would cause much difficulty in this area. FWIW I won my 8th grade school spelling bee, it was a large public school, not just 5 students to compete against, and I would say that it in no way, shape, or form helped me with my career. I do not under estimate the importance of language skills, far from it, but I do know some very successful people who are not very articulate. Also, in this day and age of social media, electronics, & etc.. I do not believe that ESPN is a very good medium to present a spelling bee to students. Does anyone really believe that ESPN is going to draw a strong spelling bee fan base comprised of school age children????? It seems something more geared towards Discovery, National Geographic, or something along those lines.
