In my APA league you have to Ask your opponent if they fouled, and if they deny it there's Nothing you can do. Happened last week Tuesday to a guy on my team. The other guy fouls several of us saw it and told our player to ask the question, and he denied fouling. The foul player lost the game but won the match.
Do you feel obligated to remind your opponent what suit they are shooting if they don't ask and line up on the wrong suit? If I'm not sure I'll ask before shooting, and have given up ball in hand on many occasions because I wasn't paying attention and pocketed the wrong ball.
Do situational ethics apply? If it's for fun I'll stop my opponent from shooting if I can. Sometimes they just step up and shoot before you can say anything. During a tournament or league match I don't talk to my opponent at all, except to ask if they fouled (per the rules) or to compliment them on a nice finish if I'm racking. I think it
