Etiquette question

So true. Here's a good example of that: ...
No blood, no problem. Nothing to see here. ;) Just an amicable discussion..

That was me and Marop and Dennis up in the front row at the start of the video.

You did it exactly right. If he didn't want the harder shot he should control his body. But in pool, anytime you can make someone blow a gasket I consider that a win... as long as it isn't sharking. Wind em up and let em blow.

I honestly love playing all ball fouls. I believe this is the way it should be, from beginners to pros. I think they just do CB only fouls to keep tempers calm.
I know this is getting slightly derailed, but it's not the first time I've seen that happen here. And I'd bet dollars to donuts it won't be the last.

Anyway, the whole "blown fuse" thing reminds me of a tournament I played in quite a few years ago where I ran into the most negative and just flat out grumpy old dude I've ever seen in a tournament. Mind you, this was a breast cancer benefit tournament where a very large percentage of the proceeds were getting donated for breast cancer research... So, before we even started the dude starts bitching about each game costing $1.00. Not $1.00 each. $1.00 total. That we split. I'm like, "Alright. Maybe he's on a tight budget."

So we start playing, I think it was a race to three, and he's complaining about everything. It's too loud. The rails are too springy. The cloth is too slow. He missed the shot but got the shape he wanted. I got lucky. Blah, blah, blah. A little while into it, I finally stand up and politely ask him, "Hey, man, are you ok?" He replied with something like, "Yeah. Why?" I told him he'd done nothing but complain since we got to the table and just seemed genuinely unhappy. To no one's surprise, he didn't like that answer and started bitching some more about me minding my own business and whatnot. It was at that point I knew the crack was widening so I, again, very politely tell him, "You know, if you hate it so much here you can just unscrew your cue, put it in its case, walk down that hallway, get in your car, and go anywhere else. Nobody is making you play in this." That was it. He was done. I mean, he didn't technically quit, but he might as well have.

There was no post match handshake.

they werent gambling together. otherwise earl would not have had to defend himself the other guy wouldnt even have said anything.

and earl likely wouldnt call it on him gambling and probably in this case..

although in tournaments it isnt wrong to use all the rules to your advantage. unlike gambling.

but earl also knows the squeaky wheel gets the grease. if you are quiet the ruling goes against you. you must put pressure on the ref. so he doesnt just take the easy way out. after all he is human and wants the least conflict.

I am sort of new to the game, and I accidentally bumped a ball about 6 in lifting my cue up and my knee jerk reaction was moving it back to where it was without asking. They called me on the foul for it, because that is a foul, and I didn't like it, but it was a foul plain and simple. If someone moves a ball, and his opponent says leave them or move them back, which is totally up to him, that's the way the game should be played.

I think you should have told your opponent, "Hey, these are beginner rules. If you want to play real pool, next time I'll take ball in hand. Okay?"

In BCAPL if the cue ball passes through the area a move object ball originally occupied it's a foul.

I watched a ladies match with the Roadrunner playing Kelly Fisher and it appeared the kid fouled as to the naked eye at full speed it looked like the cue ball brushed the two. She said she hit it with her stick and Fisher appeared skeptical. The TD used slow motion replay to make the call and no one got upset even though it looked like it was heading there quickly.

Nonsense like this can be avoided.... All ball fouls...
This thread needn't exist, if people just played all ball fouls, all the time. Which just makes sense to do.

The douchebags will just lie about fouling. Don't underestimate them.
True that. One thing I like about here in Shanghai, is that most halls have a separate camera over their tables from an APP manufacturer, you subscribe to the APP, and then re-watch the footage whenever you like (probably doesn't adhere to privacy laws in various countries though - UK/EU definitely not, can't speak for US).
They are HD, and cover the whole table. If you have watched coverage of a tournament in China, you have watched the footage provided by these APP cameras.

DigitalPool is starting to install systems like that in the US.

unless its a real tournament and not just a league thats a dipshit call on you.
never happen gambling just would tell you where to put it and thats how it should be. you didnt do anything that wasnt easy to fix or affect anytrhing at all after your mistake.

It would be fine as long as the establishment is upfront about it. Then it is the payers choice to play there with the halls bussiness model or not.

Here, anyone can access the footage from every table. Members of the APP can download, and have access to playback over more days. I think in the UK/EU, the person being filmed would have to give permission to be filmed. So such an APP couldn't really exist because every person who ever entered the hall would have to sign a waiver.
I was talking with a friend the other day about how many dudes have probably been caught cheating on their GF's using the APP 😂
There are also a couple people in some groups I am in, that are sad enough to tune into peoples practice session...

Absolutely, someone just did that to our team last night and we let him go no problem. It creates an amicable setting and respect for your opponent. Everybody makes a little goof here or there, and we're not professionals.

It’s not a foul in any league or tournament I play in. Cue ball fouls only.
As for the poster you did nothing wrong. That guy should be upset at himself. He put himself in that position
This would be a foul under BCA/CSI rules because more than one ball was moved.
