Our rail cloth(Simonis, Gandy oversize 8' commercial) has slipped out of the featherstrip. I thought I could put it back without taking the rail off the table. After trying this I've decided that the procedure is as follows. Take the rail off the table, loosen the cloth from the bottom of the cushion, put some silicone on the featherstrip and put cloth back under it, pull tight and staple cloth back to botton of cushion and put rail back on table.

You're close. You may not have enough cloth to go back under the rail to re-staple and if that's the case you'll need to get another piece of rail cloth. I've never used silicone in this situation so couldn't say if that works although I doubt it. Back in the day some installers would put several tacks or thin nails thru the featherstrip and into the rail effectively making sure it stayed in place. Keep in mind there should be enough cloth inside the featherstrip channel so that the cloth is in contact with the featherstrip on all 3 sides of the channel. |_| The featherstrip also needs to be tight in the channel so if what you have is too small you may need a larger featherstrip.

Where can I get featherstrips, seems like I saw some plastic ones.

The plastics are 1/4" X 1/4"
Wood (preferred) is 1/4" X 5/16"

You should be able to get them at a billiard dealer if you have one close or you can find several places on the web.
We have them but you may find them cheaper at Muellers (poolndarts.com)

Steve, in most cases the entire piece of rail cloth will have to be replaced, because when covering rail the cloth is cut short. I would not recommend Plastic feather stripes for the rails they will only cause you head ackes, the best type to use are made from bass wood.

Below is a link where you can purchase what you need to do the job, and their prices are very good.

Hope this helps
