Europe vs Asia - team challenge

surprised Mika is not there .....
although this is just another EU team...at the moment I think we could have 4 or 5 teams of roughly same level...nice to have a big pool of gifted individuals...

Souquet
Engert
Hohmann
Appleton
Peach
Immonen
Chamat
Feijen
vd Berg
Alcaide
Drago
Chinakhov

probably forgot quite a few as well...

with the exception of Chinakhov, these are all already established players in the world.....followed close by a whole host of other players that are not THAT far off the pace ....

Very interesting, I hope it's live streamed. 3 questions:

1) Since when was Russia part of Europe (Chinahov is on the Euro squad)?

2) Is Prince Billah a strong enough player to compete heads up with these pros?

3) Who would want to attend this, it's in a country that has alcohol prohibition. ;)

and what is your variant? Since when it is not? Okay, part of the country to the right of Ural Mountains (namely Siberia) is Asia. (you might want to check a Wiki entry about a monument that symbolizes the border between two continents. But I could never imagine that here in so-called European part we are considered next to the Chinese by some. What about Stepanov winning a Mosconi Cup in 2007 as a part of Team Europe? Did he cause the same question?

Looking forward to watch the tournament (I hope His Royal Highness Prince Billah doesn't forget that streaming has become very popular means of broadcasting; or at least they will show it live on ESPN Asia which should be found in the net easily)

Russia is in Europe. Period. They are participants to every European Championship of any kind.

Thanks for the info Vahmurka. I certainly meant no disrespect to Europe or Russia and my ignorance of world geography shone through! It's said there's 7 continents, however Asia and Europe are the only two that are connected. That seems somewhat contradictory to me, but I won't lose any sleep over it.

From: http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0001745.html

"A continent is defined as a large unbroken land mass completely surrounded by water, although in some cases continents are (or were in part) connected by land bridges."

But, I digress. :)

no hard feelings, KoolKat :) I'm glad the info helped. Russia is too big IMO and could have been easier to rule if was size of Switzerland ;)
Ruslan Chinakhov is a fast-progressing player and it's good to see such distinction he receives from various pool authorities and directors (World Pool Masters, 10-Ball Worlds, etc). At the same time I hope he doesn't run out of gas and keeps his fire. Hopefully Konstantin Stepanov returns to once high level he was. About a year and a half in decline is past now.

Once again, we all hope the tournament will be featured on TV. Prince Billah wouldn't want to miss an opportunity to show off, lol.

With this event starting Friday, has anyone heard any news about it being streamed?

Would love to watch it.

you forgot 2 world champions: ortmann and cohen:)

i believe peach is a little bit overrated...surely the worst player among the ones you mentioned...

How so? He has achieved what half the other names on that list have failed to do - win the World Championship (and one that EVERYBODY could play) in.
That was your criteria for nominating Oliver and Stefan,

You also overlooked Imram Majid and Raj Hundal both proven winners at World level.
