I have been out of the "Game" for a while. College came and didnt have time for pool and now I am getting back into it. I picked up a decent table for the garage to start on. I guess just critique me, I have never watched myself play before so that was interesting. Thanks in Advance!

you looked pretty good keep practicin. Most people on here will probably tell you to post more footage for a more honest gage on your speed.
 
looked pretty good. If you play like that without a ton of practice, how do you play when you do practice??? closet pro ? :)
 
What happened to the cue ball after you shot the four at about 1:05? Does the table roll off that much?
 
I am working on getting some more vids up. This table plays very oddly also! I am going to get new rails and new felt as soon as Christmas is past.
 
not bad... but I did notice you have a lot of movment in your stroke (up/down) most of the time that's bad and can manifest itself with missed shots and bad position
did you bank the 9 just because you could or because you thought it was the right shot? just wondering. Other than that not bad.. BTW how long have you been laying off?

yea I seen that. If its a 3 piece slate the bondo or whatever was used to fill the crease is probably uneven. You can fix that when you recover.
 
I have been off for about 3 years. Just playing here and there when I had time and desire. The past couple weeks I have been playing 20-25 hours a week. I banked the 9 because it was dead in.

Level your table first bro! :D Haven't you noticed how your CB reacted weirdly when you made the 4 on the side?
 
Stated above that was the dirt on the table. Got it out of someones garage today! :) But it does need fine tuned. I just couldnt wait to play!. I was like a little kid on Christmas morning.

yea I remember the feeling. Its almost like buying a new car but better ha.
 
I'm in a similar situation as you, coming back to the game after a long layoff. Click on my user name and find my "Getting re-started" thread. Some good drills were suggested to me.

Your stroke looks good. The rack was tough, and you got through it in two innings.

Not really much to critique here. I'd post some videos where you're not playing well. Also, if you're serious about getting back into it, I'd save up for a good 9 footer. Looks like you have plenty of room. (Is that a 9 footer?) Sometimes tables look smaller on video.)

Unfortunetly it is an 8 Footer but it works for now. We just bought our house and money is tight right now. If I had a room for a table I would have got another job to save for a Diamond. But I am not going to put a Diamond in my garage.
 
I posted up another video of the Circle Drill. Messed it up at the end :(. It is so hard to take steps back..
 
Seems to me like you stab at the ball, sloooow down the back stroke. The cue should almost stop before you start moving it forward, some add a pause before moving forward like a snooker player, I don't like it. I would suggest adding a slight pause before you hit the ball on the last stroke. If I were your coach I would tell you that your right arm is at a less than 90 deg angle when you are addressing the CB, might not change much but will help IMO. IDK I am rambling...........

Pretty good, but...

Too quick; no pre-shot routine; no pause before shot stroke.

In the drill I didn't notice much planning at all; it looked like you just shot stop shots and took whatever shot resulted. Maybe you should vary the layout so you don't get too used to it.
