Eve before Valley Forge in Laurel, MD

Every Tuesday, there's a local $20-entry-fee tournament in Laurel, Maryland. Tonight, the regulars came, to include Ryan "Genie Man" McCreesh, Mike "The Doctor" Davis, Keith "Earthquake" McCready, and Jumping Danny Green. Somebody's cell phone rang to let some folks know that Niels Feijen of the Netherlands and his lady, "Kat," were hanging out at a pool room up the road a stretch, a 5-minute cruise. Danny Green and Keith made it to the finals of this local tourney and decided to split the purse, so we could ALL get over there and check out the operation. Everybody left immediately, caravan style, to the next stop.

Kat was playing a local young gun straight pool on the front table, while Niels was playing his friend and road companion a friendly game of 15-ball rotation. Kat is quite a pretty young lady, and is definitely a serious player. I watched her execute some tough shots, and she studies the table and shoots very deliberate.

Some folks began to bark to initiate action with Niels, especially Ryan and Keith, but mostly Keith  , while others sat ringside to enjoy the show. One game suggested to Niels was having to break all the racks with his left hand against Ryan or Keith or both, but Niels wasn't going for it. So he decided to put his other man in the box. Ryan ended up playing Niel's friend some even 10-ball. The Genie Man looked like he was going to prevail as we were leaving to go home.

Everybody is talking about the Super Billiards Expo, only a 2-1/2 hour drive from Laurel. And Maryland will be well represented. Seeing Niels and Kat tonight was a treat for a lot of folks around here on the eve of Valley Forge. The excitement is beginning to build... :)

JAM,

Thanks for the VF update. It is always good to hear stories of what is going on at the local pool rooms. As usual, I was a day late and missed out. :( :( :(

Good Luck to you and Keith at VF and take along my pre-thanks for any stories you bring back to us here at AZ. :D

Thanks for the great story, JAM!! I love the way you write, makes you feel as if you are there. :p

JAM- Have you ever, or maybe you do, considered writing for a Billiards Magazine? Nearly every one of your posts is detailed and exciting to read and about things that people want to read. I think you and Keith could really do well with an Infosite or Billiards magazine column. You could call it "JAM Pool Talk" (column, session, page or whatever)
Thanks for all the great posts! Keep it up, we're all looking forward to hearing about VF!

I'd be willing to bet that JAM *helps* Keith write the column for InsidePOOL Magazine. The first time I read one of those articles, I pictured JAM sitting at a hotel desk in a room typing with 'Quake walking around dictating, cold beer in hand.

Funny thing is, it's probably the opposite! Keith writing with one hand, cold one in other and JAM walking/talking with the cold one in her hand.
