Ever been jarred before?

I'm not entirely sure that this actually happened to me, but it was pretty strange nonetheless. I was playing someone some cheap 1-pocket, and had been downing bottled water the whole match because it was kind of warm in there. After I got back from a trip to the restroom, I guzzled the rest of my water. Shortly after I drank it I started to feel really disoriented. It's hard to explain but it felt like the layout of the whole poolroom had changed and I was in an unfamiliar place. After a moment I would snap back to reality, but it kept happening. Especially after I would stand up from being down on a shot. My mind felt very bogged down and I couldn't think through a simple situation on the table. It seemed to last for about twenty or thirty minutes and then I felt ok, though a little light headed for the rest of the night. I didn't say anything to anyone except my friend who was working the counter, I told her that I had started to feel very strange and disoriented. When I got home my stomach started to hurt and had to spend a good deal of time on the toilet.

I'm wondering if anyone has had an experience similar to this. I didn't have any other chemicals in my system (to my knowledge) aside from one medication I use that helps calm my tics (Tourette's syndrome). I've been on that medication for over a year and have never experienced anything like this. The guy I was playing has a reputation for being shady, though I've never been wronged by him in the past and we seem to be on OK terms.

I'd pay close attention to how I felt for the next several days on the chance that I wasn't jarred, that's for sure. Take care Bud!

The only drugs I have ever heard of that are commonly slipped in to drinks completely knock you out. The date rape drug comes to mind. Another possibility is a single drop of Visine in a drink. Several drops of visine can make you so sick that you have to be hospitalized with vomiting and diarrhea. Its a crazy mixed up world out there, watch yourself.

Be very careful...sounded like overhydration to me...there is such a thing, too (just Google it). We used to force soldiers to drink huge amounts of water during exertion to avoid heat exhaustion, but killed some of them back in the 1990s at Fort Benning. "Water intoxication" is where your body gets a sudden influx of electrolytes and doesn't know what to do with them...symptoms include mental confusion...you could stroke out. It's rare, but more common with Ecstasy users or people drinking insane amounts of water on a bet or as part of a contest. If you're dehydrated, you need to replenish your fluids, but don't drink gallons at a time...

Had it happen to me playing $50 sets. Realized something felt wrong, pulled up even and went home. I felt that way for about four hours.

My opponent from that night got busted by my friend, then got out of line and got barred from the place. Karma?

Yes I have it was in NYC in a bar and it was past closing time. So except for the few people that were involved in the game or betting on it everyone else was gone. The set was for Eight Hundred and all of a sudden I couldn't see straight (focus) and miscued four times in one game. Needless to say I lost that set and quit and it sucked because there was no way the guy could have beat me, honestly anyway.

It should also be noted that "jarring" or "spiking" someones drink with Visine is a Felony in most states. It's also known as poisoning.

Jarred

Years ago I was a bouncer. Never had a lot of problems and was fairly popular with our crowd. I kept my drink on top of a cigarette machine. For a few years no problems then one night someone "got " me. I think they tripped me. I went home and had a very interesting several hours. I never picked a glass back up after I sat it down and drank out of it again. It had nothing to do with gambling, I must have ticked someone off.

Think about drinking a ridiculous amount of water. Then double that, then again. That's about how much water you need to drink to experience what you're talking about. I have a hunch that is not the case here.

I was once slipped something in my drink that hit me half way home...while I was behind the wheel! Single scariest moment of my life....fighting to stay conscious for thankfully the 3.3 mile drive until I got in the driveway, where my then husband found me 4 hours later, slumped over in the passenger seat, keys still in the ignition. All from a half a draft beer. To this day, I keep a coaster over top of my glass...crimp one end so I can tell if it's been moved. If it has, I don't finish the drink.

2 options

If this situation happend to me there would only be two possibilities, Either I think okay this guy isent going to risk 3-6 in the pen to win a set or I go back to the pool hall and whoop some a$$. But either way That shit cra.

Yes, I have been jarred and so was the person with me. Many low-lifes use to jar people in bars to rob them. I had a friend to get jarred once at a bar he was a regular at, it knocked him out and the two guys that jarred him said they were friends and would take care of him. They put him in their car, robbed him and dumped him out on the side of the road. He was picked up by the law and charged with public drunkness. This guy never drank over 2 beers. He also knew them and got his money back. One of the guys who did this is doing life without for jarring, kidnapping and leaving the guy on the side of the road where he froze to death. There were some rough hustlers who also used jar to beat other players in the 70's and 80's.

My neighbors daughter was living in Dallas and got jarred. She was raped and found unconscious behind the club she was at. The drug they slipped her caused some kind of long term neurological damage. She was never quite herself again after that incident.

Never happened to me while playing pool, but one time I sat down at a poker game at the Horseshoe in LV, playing pretty high with some well known players. After about an hour, I was making some unusual calls and sluffing off a good amount of cash which is not how the game rolls for me. I was somewhere out in the ozone and after a haphazard trip to the john, I realized that something wasn't right. Someone had jarred me, waitress maybe, player in the next seat, I didn't know.

Some bottled water and a couple of cups of coffee later, I was back close to normal, and won most of my money back luckily.
