Howdy Keith,

Last night I was watching your match against Parica from 2003 US Open. That was quite entertaining.

I was wondering, have you ever played straight pool to any degree? I know you have always been a 9-ball and 1-pocket machine but since 14.1 was still somewhat popular when you were coming up I wondered if you had ever had any good matches with the game.

I would like to see the game played more often. I was lucky enough to watch Alex P. and John Schmidt play a match to 300 at this year's DCC. That was fun.

Thanks,

take care,

I remember reading a story once about Keith giving state champions 20 - 30 points to 100 back when he was a young 'un.

Could be expensive to find out if he still remembers the moves..... :D

Dave Q --> wants at least 60 start.

Wally, I used to play straight pool when I was a kid at Bob's Billiards in Orange County. I learned the game from my step-dad, Bob Wallace. I used to run hundreds myself back then. Ever since 9-ball got introduced, straight pool sort of went out to pasture.

My best game that I got to watch was in 1973 when Jimmy Carras played Minnesota Fats in an exhibition. It was one of the funniest events I had ever been to. Fats was his usual self, very entertaining. Everything that came out of his mouth was hilarious. He always used to say the difference between him and all the other pool players, he rode around in a Dusenberg, and the other pool players only had Volkswagens. Jimmy Carras won the match, but I don't think it was a big deal because everybody was getting paid. :D
