Half way down there's the same circle of chalk that you see on bar cues, house cues and resulting from chalk with a deep hole. That says to me that Earl isn't that demanding about "painting"on a perfectly chalked tip. That really stuck in my mind .

As a matter of fact I have even if it was just over a year ago the it was as clean as any of my cues only one of my cues has a hint of blue chalk on the ferrule .
If I were a bit smarter I'd post the picture of Earl and myself ha ha

I talked to Earl over 30 years ago at Starchers in Akron . His ferrule was a mess then too . Did not seem to bother him as at that time he was capable of winning any event he entered .

Could you please use a comma or two. Man that’s tough to read and I’m horrible with grammar.

jtompilot , I'm sorry I caused you so much pain and discomfort , while I was in a pain med haze after my last surgery , which now was just over 2 weeks ago .
I'm feeling much better and all of the incisions have healed up rather nicely .

Glad to hear your doing better. Soon I’ll be getting my cataract surgery and hopefully I’ll be able to see better.

I met Earl a few months back and did a clinic with him. His cue is a mess. The shaft is close to 15mm diameter, and he has tape around the butt, an extension that stays on all the time, and a tennis racket looking grip over the butt end. It's quite the contraption. But he can play.

I thought it was funny how the pool world has moved to less/no deflection and slimmer more advanced cues, and Earl is still rocking out with his beat up old Jalopy. Also we are in South Florida and it's extremely wet down here, he dragged an armor all dashboard wipe all over the table to "slick" it up. But man, he was such a great guy. Don't listen to all the rumors, he was great, informative, and a pretty funny guy

Update: I think I was able to resize them

Ferrule or not, I'll bet he feeds his dog.
