Evgeny's Cue?

Anyone know what cue Evgeny is running? Very sharp looking :)
I would love to get some updates on what equipment these guys use. What shaft tappering and what tips? Do they use the same cue all tournament?

Sterling makes a cue that looks very close to Stalev's cue .. however, I believe Stalav's palying cue is made by some Russian cue maker. I used to know the link but can't seem to find it now.

I know that Stalev also plays a game called Russian Pyramid or something like that. Are the balls a bit bigger than pool balls in that game? I seem to remember hearing somewhere that they are, but I'm not 100% sure.If that's the case, maybe that's why he has a 23 ounce cue.

Only speculating here.

They play a game in Russia where the balls are a lot bigger all white but numbered. The cues are much longer. I know Tiger use to have one of the cues. Till it was stolen at the APA. I have seen the balls. I wonder about the table and pocket size??

I think they play it on a snooker sized 6x12,however, the pockets would have to be cut alot larger than in Britian to accomodate the bigger balls.I have some Russian Pyramid game DVD's somewhere that I've yet to watch. I'll verify things later on when I find where I've stored them

A couple of years ago he was playing with a Bear (German made) with rubber carom slip over grip.

It's a universal russian pyramid/pool custom cue (shafts are different for those two games, of course) made by a russian cuemaker Alex Efremov (http://www.efremovcues.com/). The look is traditional for russian pyramid cues , the "waves" (of different wood) besides looking good also make cue stiffer which is obviously needed for russian pyramid with the monster balls...

Hope that clears it a little. I don't think there's any mass production of similarly looking pool cues, not even in Russia. Unless Stalev starts one :)

I think JAM stated before in another thread that he claimed it was 28 oz.! Of course, she also said she was pretty sure it wasn't quite that heavy, but also that it was definitely heavier than Keith's cue which is already a whopping 21 oz.

28 would be illegal for IPT.

Once Stalev told me the name of the cuemaker but I could not register it in my mind.It is made in Russia. But I do remember that it is 23 OZs

Yeah thanks! Too bad the site's all in Russian though. I sent the guy an email asking him if I could purchase one of his cues. I wonder if he'll understand it, ha. I might just have to look up one of my old Russian buddies and see if he can translate for me. The cues look really nice.

I tried Russian Billiards this summer. The balls are both larger and heavier than poolballs, and it is played on a table which is about the same size as a snooker table.

The balls can not be pocketed if they are frozen to the rail, because the pockets are unbelievable small. If you have a straight in shot the ball can just barely be pocketed. Maybe 2mm on each side of the ball.

The cue is both longer and heavier.

Play a couple of hours Russian Billiard and you will improve your potting!
