How did they Choose Ewa over Earl For the Hall of fame? Dont get me wrong she is worthy of the Hall of fame no doubt about that. I just think you had to pick earl Over her He has won many more titles than she has. So to the voters I give a Big

Lol I was going to give the thumbs down but i guess it Didn"t work! lol

I agree KC. That just doesn't make sense. I'm not an Earl fan but I do acknowledge that he is a great player! No way in the world should Ewa get in before Earl. What were they thinking?

I dont know rick! I still cant believe it! I dont know who But somebody Messed up!

I agree. I don't care for Earl's personality but I respect him as a player. Probably due to office politics.

I gotta tell you, I was extremely disappointed also.... I felt that Earl who is a good friend of ours and is well deserving of the award should have been a shoe in. I very much admire Ewa and also consider her a friend although Earl was my choice and I got to vote!

Lame choice. Honestly I am not sure Ewa really even deserved the nomination let alone beating Allen Hopkins and Earl Strickalnd in the voting for the hall. I just lost all the respect I had for the pool hall of fame, thats what happens when the people who run this stuff do stupid things like this, they take out all the meaning.

I have never seen Allen or Ewa play, however I have seen Earl many times. The guy shoots a very good stick and has done for MANY years. Much as I disagree with the way he handles himself in tournaments, the guy deserves to be in the hall of fame. If Fats is in there, for damn sure Earl should be there.

Ewa has done a ton for women's pool.
Without her, there may not be women on tv.
They might still be relegated as side show for the men like they used to be.
She's also a world champion and has appeared on numerous tv shows.

Yeah but can she match Earl and Allen? Somehow I don't think so. I have a huge amount of respect for what she's done for women's pool but I have to disagree. I think Earl belongs in the hall of fame. I guess when Earl is long gone, people will talk about him like they do Fats and all those other guys. Will they do the same for Ewa?

No big deal, Earl will be in the hall of fame. He will have to wait for another year is all. Right. Earl is no question the more consistent of the two and is still playing at a very high level. However, Ewa has done more for the WPBA than Earl has done for a defunct mens tour! That is why she got the vote in front of him, his day will come though.

People talk about Fats?:D
Earl will be there next year or the year after if Hopkins makes it there first.

Alright, maybe it's just me that talks about him. I'm a history fan. Anyway, Earl will make it before long. I just find it difficult to view Ewa's ability on the same level as past inductees. Even lthough she has done more for the publicity.

I thought Earl was gonna win...could it be his attitude that stalled his induction? Maybe Maybe not. He sure deserves it though. Maybe next year or the year after that.

No Ewa will be a footnote, hell Jean Balukis is rarely talked about and from everything I understand she was (is) a great player, much better than Ewa.
As far as the hall of fame thing goes I guess what it comes down to is these questions:
Would men's pool be where it is without Earl? Yes.
Would women's pool be where it is without Ewa? Quite possibly not.
Would pool in general be where it is without the WPBA's exposure on TV? Probably, but maybe not.
Nobody spoke too highly of Ty Cobb's personality and he got in the baseball hall of fame, Earl will get in the pool hall of fame. Earl is probably one of the few players who would appreciate it as an honor, not just a way to finagle another buck.

When Loree Jon Jones was inducted a few years ago, so was Jim Rempe. Why wasn't Earl or Allen also inducted along with Ewa? My gues is that Earl and Allen must have split the vote, not giving either a clear majority.

I think that if you look at what Ewa is doing for the game you will see a big differance. She is promoting the game as well as playing in tournaments. Just take a look at her schedule. Exibitions, tournaments, comentating, WPBA business. Earl is out there trying to win tournaments and money while giving pool a bad name with his unsportsman like conduct. Greed vs selflessness. Allen on the other hand also contributes a great deal of positive input to the game. If it wasn't for Earl, Allen would probably have made it. I know most of you won't like this post, but give the girl some credit, besides that, she looks better than either one of them.

Ewa ...

Hi Don,

Most people today remember Allen through his events in Valley Forge. He essentially retired from active pro play. Yes, once in a while, Allen will come out to a tournament. But most of his time there is spent promoting Valley Forge. While playing in recent events, I do not remember seeing him on the "A" side for long. Did this influence voters? Out of sight, out of mind?

Earl deserves to be in the hall. I wonder if this was voter backlash against his tirades while on TV representing his country. If this is the situation, mention of this from the voters may finally force Earl to understand the gravity of what he says and does. Pete Rose comes to mind. Earl was very "quiet" during the DCC. Perhaps news of his passing over gave him pause!
