I have no clue what thread an Excaliber has but I do know that a Cuetec is not a 3/8X14. I have a 3/8X14tap and when I tried making an insert for a Cuetec the fit was very sloppy.

I have the taps for CueTecs and no, it's not 3/8x14.
Rather 9mm x 14.
If that is in fact what you need, I can provide. PM please.
I'd suggest that you not tap directly into wood but rather into a phenolic plug.

i have an excalibur and mine is 5/16x18 thread with a flat face joint, same as meucci and players.

Just curious if you stated the thread correctly. You wrote a metric diameter but an inch pitch.

> The CueTec pin is an oddball,or "bastard" thread. I made a pin that fits fairly snug in the ones I've worked on that is .352 x 14,which is VERY close to 9mm,which in decimal form comes out to .3546.

I've seen 2 variations on Excalibur cues. The gray/silver ones found at sporting goods stores or Wal-Mart usually have a steel collar on both joint faces, and those are 5/16-18 as previously mentioned. I've also seen a solid black "graphite" model that looked to me like a re-branded CueTec,and the pin in it was identical to the standard CueTec. Tommy D.
