I had to post and let everybody know the excellent experience I had this past weekend dealing with a Custom Cue maker.

This past Saturday I drove down to see Mr. Dan Dishaw in order to discuss the building of my first custom cue. I had this idea of walking in sitting down for 15 minutes to look through pictures then picking it up 3 months later. I figured very wrong! After sitting in his shop for 20 minutes and letting him know what I was interested in and answering a few of his questions. We proceeded to go and shoot a few games to get the feel for different wrap types that he offers on his cues. After about a half dozen games or so back down to the shop to discuss further details. I was offered so many choices and presented with every option possible in order to ge tthe custom I've been looking forward to. To make a long story short it took 3 1/2 hours of Dan's patience and time to work out 95% of the spec's for the cue. Everything from ring colors and material to picking out the exact piece of wood he would use for the cue.

It was one of the most enlighting and interesting experiences I've had the pleasure of being apart of. Mr. Dishaw is a great man and the industry is lucky to have him.

I would recommend anybody that is looking for a custom cue to put Dishaw Cues on your list to consider.

Just had to share my experience with everyone.

Thanks,

How does his cues hit? I'll try to give you a something to go by.
Southwest plays stiff - too me
Coker and Gilbert play a little softer then Southwest.

So what did you order in the end? How long will it take?

I haven't really reached the end, yet still working out a few details regarding inlays and designs.

It will be ready for pick up in approx. 3 months.

To be honest with you I haven't really hit alot of custom cues. There is none in my city were I play. I've had Meucci's for about a 2 yrs and that's all I know. But I can say after shooting with a Dishaw the Meucci feel's like a broom handle. In my opinion I can't even compare the 2 cues. The Dishaw was so nice......................

It's really nice to hear that the personal touch and interaction is still alive and well. I bet you end up loving that cue for a long time. :)

I'm sure Jude would know but I believe Ginky played with a Dishaw for quite a while. He makes a beautiful cue and it's nice to hear that he's a great guy to boot.

Congrats,
Dave

I just can't stop telling people about the experience. In no other dealings I've ever had has somebody taken so much time and effort to get me exactly what I want.

I think, Ginky had some Mottey cues, really cool ones too.

Hey Tracy,

I heard the same although I never got to see them. I swear I remember seeing his Dishaw a few years back.

Thanks,
Dave

dz cues

my fondest memories of dealing with cuemakers is definitely with Bob of DZcues.com. He listened to what I wanted, and even though he "suggested" what he thought would be the right way to go, the cue turned out just like I wanted!!! the wood was nicer, the inlays were perfect, the points were even, the whole cue itself was satisfying to me!!!!!! I don't know everything about cues, or what works with what, but he has become accustomed to what I really like in a cue. the feel and balance were right on the money. why I EVER sold it to even Zim...I'll never know. I'm getting it back though!! it will be a costly mistake, but I'm ok with it I guess. Bob is THE MAN in my opinion. I have played with ALOT of different cues, but I keep going back to Bob. that's gotta tell ya' something!! It sure tells me a whole lot. I think his cues are some of the BEST playing around, but the 2nd and 3rd have to be scott kornele, and mike stacey. all make a great cue IMO.

Dan is a very nice guy, I had the chance to spend a bit of time with him at a tourney near Syracuse last year.

His cues are beautiful, my wife fell for a snakewood cue he made. When she inquired about it, his response was that if he ever came home without that cue, he didn't think his wife would forgive him because she loved it so much.

If I ever decide to go for a high end cue, I'll probably go see him as he's only about an hour away from me.

Paul used to have photos on his website of one, I think it was ivory handled, but it has been a long time and my memory is not what it once was. :( Oh, well.
