Executing under pressure

Greetings! Long time lurker, first time poster.

Just wanted to share a bit of my happiness at having executed well under pressure last night. I play in an APA 8-ball league, and while I'm a decent player, I still have a strong tendency to run 7 balls and miss the 8. That happened to me last night when I was on the hill, and my opponent played some great safeties to force me to kick at the 8 several times. Finally he left me in this position:

I had missed a similar kick completely once before, so I took my time, inspected the angles carefully, marked my pocket, and came up with this shot:

Needless to say I was thrilled and my opponent was very polite and congratulated me on the shot.

Nice shot! (though not as impressive as the first WEI diagram ) That position is almost a sure loss if you don't pocket the 8. Personally, I think I would have tried jumping the CB to pocket the 8 in the opposite corner. IMO, the kick has some pitfalls if you hit it bad i.e. CB scratch in the side pocket, 8 ball in the side pocket, etc.

Then again, if the 8 falls, it's a moot point

Thanks! The reason I didn't jump was because it's APA and jump cues aren't allowed. I'm not really comfortable jumping with my playing cue... probably should practice that...

But I don't mean this thread to just be about my shot! I'd love to hear more stories of shots that people came up with under pressure...
