Xiaoting Update

Anyone got any information on the event at Fast Eddies?

Hi everyone,

This will be the only update from me until the tournament ends. :( We had 72 women play! 72! Last month was 66, this month 72! We are starting our 13th year off in amazing fashion!

Okay, now on to Xiaoting - no photos to share yet, but she is still on the winner's side. She did not get a bye the first round and had to play Texas' Amanda Lampert - one of the best female players in Texas. Xiaoting defeated her 7-3, I think. Then Xiaoting won her next two or three matches easily and she will play Lisa (Marr) Brannen first round at 10am this morning.

There are 8 left on the winner's and 8 on the loser's. On the winner's side: Terry Petrosino versus Leslie Anne Rogers, Kyu Yi versus Belinda Lee, Jennifer Kraber versus Tina Lehrmann, and Xiaoting versus Lisa Brannen. On the one loss side, Cristina Dela Garza, Amanda Lampert, Kim Pierce, Shirstie S., and Deanna Henson are playing this morning at 10am, also. There were three matches still being played when I left last night, so I don't have those results.

Thanks a lot Melinda....good to hear the tour is getting big fields!

To snapshot: We dubbed Pan Xiao Ting the 'Ice Angel' for the match against Ralf :D You can call her that if it's easier to pronounce.:p

thx, melinda. it's always very kind of you! :)

xiaoting pan won four matches yesterday, 7-2, 7-4, 7-2, 7-3 respectively.

hope she continues the great performance today.

btw, did you receive my email, melinda?

Ms. Pan has been practising 8 hours per days before her trip to the US. The only thing she is not used to is the food, but she is bringing a lot of Chinese food and snacks with her this time.

If she wins this event, she will be qualified to play in three of the seven WPBA events this year.

Ms. Pan has travelled half of the world to pursue her dream. She needs to go to North Carolina after she wins this qualifier, and then back to Taiwan for the Amway Women's World 9 Ball Championship right away.

It sort of reminds me of Jennifer Chen. Jennifer was the first Asian girl coming to the US about 10 years ago. She did not have any sponsor nor did she bring any translator when she started.

Their determination is so inspiring.:) :)

She has done very well in the past two days. I just got back from the tournament and it is down to the final 4, as of last count. I believe she is still in the winners bracket, although I have been wrong before.... :D

The ones that are still in are Leslie Anne Rogers, Dee Hensen, Xiaoting Pan, and Lisa Brannen.....

1pRoscoe, sure would have been nice to know you were there so I could have found you and said "Howdy".

As for Ms. Pan, she was knocked into the loser's bracket by Ms. Brannen first thing this morning. So I'm sorry to have to tell you, you're wrong again! :)

I'm glad to see Leslie Anne still in it. She took a big fall down some icy stairs this morning and was moving rather stiffly...

Do you think if this going to be Ms. Pan against Ms. Rogers in the finals again?

Hi Everyone,

Xiaoting Pan has tortured many on the one loss side. She lost her first match hill-hill against Lisa Brannen this morning. Only three balls left on the table and after a miss by Lisa on the 5 ball, the only place for the 5 was to knock the nine into the side (no other makable shot with the 6-ball also in the way). She missed it and left Lisa a tough shot on the 5-ball, but Lisa made the 5-ball and then the 6 and the 9. Xiaoting then had to play Amanda Lampert again and the outcome was the same as their first meeting on Saturday - Xiaoting winning 7-2 again. Then Xiaoting won her next match I think 7-0 against Lisa Henderson-Major, then she defeated Kyu Yi 7-2, then Deanna Henson 7-3 and then Leslie Anne Rogers 7-4. Leslie and Xiaoting were tied 4-4 and Xiaoting won the next three games. What's exciting about the finals is Xiaoting paid the extra $20 to be eligible to win the WPBA Qualifier. She's now playing Lisa (Marr) Brannen in the finals who did not pay the extra money to be eligible for the WPBA qualifier and this means Xiaoting has earned another qualifier! This qualifier is a paid entry into the April 19-23 WPBA San Diego event in Alpine, CA!

Xiaoting Pan won the first set against Lisa Marr Brannen 7-3. Only one race to 7 left in this true double elimination tournament to see who wins!
